I was just trying to think up a few mitigating factors, but actually if it's not your kid and you are throwing swear words over a checkers game, maybe you are a nutter.

Pretty much that is why ASD came to mind. It sounds a bit like a melt down since it had to do with following rules. :(

Yup, exactly this. I really wish he would get some help. I think they would both be happier. Instead they choose to ignore it and chalk it up to "that's just how I am." But that behavior is not normal. And they don't see it! Life is way too short to be so serious and angry all the time.  :-\\\\

Some ars***** wee free religious nutter decided to create a petition and got over 600 people to sign it trying to ban our local PRIDE parade.  Well he can F'OFF.  It's going to be an AWESOME day.

No, it wasn't his kid. It was my other sister's son, so his (and my) nephew.

Oh wow. Yeah. That's bad. I was assuming it was either his own child/step-child/whatever but not his NEPHEW he was shouting at (and I still thought it was a bit much given the age and the "crime". Definitely didn't warrant the "punishment" IMO).

My nephew wasn't being disrespectful or anything (we were all right there)- just a little boy having fun and playing a game. It was really bizarre. That's how he is a lot of the time... he's okay, then something, as small or ridiculous as it may be, triggers him and he goes off the deep end.

What did your sister say? Did anybody say anything or did everybody just react like this was normal? (suggesting this happens regularly and they're used to it)

It sounds like it would be easier to be forgiving and work with him if it seemed like he made an effort to try to change and get help for whatever is going on with him. I can see it being much harder to do so and to want to even put up being around that if he's in denial and "doesn't believe in that kind of stuff" so just lets it continue without even attempting to make positive changes. It seems like your sister is (perhaps unintentionally because she's trying to protect/defend the person she loves? - just being an armchair psychologist so feel free to ignore) enabling the behaviour so it's unlikely he'll see the need to get help, unfortunately :(  It's sad because I imagine if he just had a bit of help with how to manage this stuff, he might be so much more bearable to be around and you could enjoy the time together so much more.

This makes me irrationally angry (irrationally because I know that they won't stop PRIDE for 601 signatures but angry because people like that actually get attention for being hateful). I just don't understand why people care so much about events they don't have to attend and sexual preferences they don't need to partake in!!

Cleaning. Deep cleaning. Deep cleaning around my cooker. I cook a lot of bacon. Grease gets everywhere. I'm disgusted.

And I'm starting to get cold sensitivity on one of my molars. I need to make a dentist appointment but I need my rota first. Ugh.

I don't fry a lot of stuff, but OH likes a piece and fried egg and he is not at all careful about where he spatters and slops the oil.

Must be the weather.
I spent today cleaning the kitchen - everything off the worktops and everything wiped down with detol, and the top of the range scrubbed, and the fridge and freezer sorted and cleaned, etc.; mopping of floors, washing of windows. Then the family bathroom, then a thorough vacuum of the living room. Ran out of energy before I got to the front bathroom and the hall, and the bedrooms will have to be another day.  Didn't get the oven, either.  It was just one of those "I REALLY need this place to be clean" days.  The Daughter baked some spectacularly good cinnamon/cardamom rolls yesterday, but the countertop was left a mess, and flour on the floor. (That's usual when she bakes, so I time cleaning the kitchen for the day after. Today it was just too much of a "this is not clean and must be clean" urge. Winter must be a-commin, as I'm nesting!)

I did no housework today!   :)  Saving up my energy for the next instalment of the great garage clean up on Saturday!  ;)

Thank you for the motivation PB!  :)

we're ripping up carpets tonight...not quite as bad as deep kitchen cleans, but (arguably) more hands-on.. Not loving it.

Are you kidding?  Those signatures are most likely the 600 gayest people in all of Glasgow.  The loudest anti gay, family values politicians are always the ones getting caught with their pants down in the men's room.

And THOSE hypocrites make absolutely no sense!  They're their own worst enemies, and they're spoiling things for other people who just want to live their lives without fear of persecution.  If the self-loathing hypocrites would just shut up, everybody could be happy!  It's not hard!

Oh yeah, totally agree that the loudest are usually the most repressed.
