Great news.  Had it gone "walkies"?  I'm scarred for life after seeing an xray from a friend's IUD that she was told fell out 10 years ago.  It didn't fall out.   [smiley=behead.gif]

What's special about them to make them "gardening socks"?

They are heat holders. Awesome, very thick, soft and warm. Perfect for wearing with wellies!

Never in all the years I have worked in Scotland have I had to work on the 2nd of January (it's a holiday here).
But I was told today that I've got to work it this year, despite the fact I was going to Huddersfield for new year and was planning to drive back on the 2nd.

I'm getting paid double time,  but I'm still raging, especially since she's left it so bloody late to tell me.

I don't understand that at all. Can they even do that at such short notice?

Thankfully no, that happened to a lot of people I know. No explanation for why it hurt so much, but it was wayyyy more than a tolerable thing. I could handle a little pain, I couldn't handle that. They did a scan on Monday, supposedly it was where it should be, but I needed to be able to drive again so I'm grateful that was the end of it. Saw the immunologist today (after waiting 6 months) and she was really excellent. I might actually get to find out some of the soap/lotion things I'm allergic to! (she's referring to dermatology for that) Now to just be able to eat a normal diet again and things would be peachy!

She had my contract with her when she called me into the room, in case I kicked off. I was pretty calm, even though I was unhappy.  But yeah, the way the contract is worded is that because we also do business in England, where the 2nd is not a bank holiday,  automatically having the 2nd off is 'subject to business needs'.  But she should have been forecasting this weeks/months ago, and I told her so.  >:(

Exactly!    It's not so much about whether it's in your contract that working on a particular day is a possibility,  as having the decency to let you know about it in good time, not 5 minutes before...  >:(

Just think of that double time...

Larabee can probably give you better instructions. I only vaguely remember what my granny said to do. And I have this on my bookshelf.

All bad jokes aside, I actually do know how to darn. Been many years since I have though. Mom showed me ages ago.

my IA tonight is mainly caused by my husband's lack of foresight. Just thinking about our flight on Wednesday and what needs to be packed, etc... Asked if his ESTA was sorted/still valid and he said he "thought so". Double checked and it had expired. It normally is instantly approved so he said "no big, I'll just sort it out now." Well they've added a lot more questions since the whole travel ban thing (including the option to disclose any internet presence you have lol) and it now turns out that you don't get automatically get an instant approval....so his approval could take "up to 72 hours" (not enough time if it takes the max amount to process). They also apparently don't email you to tell you if it's approved or rejected....

They asked questions as well like "Do you have any physical or mental disabilities?" ....I can't understand why that would matter....I mean, I guess with mental disabilities they - at a stretch - could be concerned about somebody being psychotic and causing harm to others but the physical disability part? I don't get the point of asking... They also need the number of somebody as a point of contact. Thankfully we have my mom but what happens if you're going there on holiday and don't have somebody specific?? If you're staying in a hotel, I guess you'd put that but multiple hotels or an airbnb, what happens then?? Crossing my fingers that we don't have any issues with his ESTA. I am annoyed he didn't think to check this MUCH sooner but it's also irritating that it's no longer instant approval (which is probably a good thing I guess because - in theory - it means they are putting more into checks which is safer just less convenient for us lol). Just a bit surprised at some of the questions.

Hope so! and I hope it'll teach him a lesson! (though it probably won't LOL). They don't email you but I'm sure he can just check daily to see if the status has updated. We will see! I may have to fly back alone! lol
