Sadly, it was a drive-by egging, and that part of the road is a blind spot.  I won't say how/where it was a blind spot, lest I give away our weakness, but they are going to get away with it.  But we are now discussing how to cover that blind spot.  This will not happen again.  Hopefully.  Or, at least, if it does, we'll be able to report their numberplate to the police next time.  Hooligans!  ("Get off my lawn!")

;)

My husband and I are not too upset about it, as our campervan was old when we bought it 6 years ago, and already has a few "battle scars".  We're just amazed that people still do this kind of thing.  Just ridiculous.

No, he's just a jolly blue van.  :)

Where is Albatross?  She’s been “missing” for a few weeks.

Some drone at one of the places I freelance created an invoice template that we're all required to use. It's based on an excel spreadsheet, and some of the cells have formulas in them that automatically fill in data. One of them is the "invoice date". For whatever reason, the gatekeeper who accepts invoices keeps thinking I'm sending invoices with the "invoice date" filled in in the US date format, which is causing great angst. No amount of explanation of the fact that I have no control over the stupid cell, and it's filling in whatever it was designed to fill in by whatever drone created the stupid thing will make her go away.

I'd be fuming lol. I would probably email their line manager to say "Could you please advise your team that we are unable to change the dates on our invoice template. I have advised this but there still seems to be some confusion. Thanks in advance."
My, how time flies....

Haha, weirdly, their finance and HR departments have an unbelievable amount of sway over how the rest of the company does business.

In reality, if it doesn't stop I'm thinking about billing them a half day for invoice revisions.

Or just send them a screenshot with the date photoshopped to whatever format they want.

((snort)) I actually have Photoshop. I'll just do a content-aware fill and let Adobe decide what goes in there. Take that!

Someone who I'm sure had just completed an Excel for Advanced Drones has created an exceptionally complicated formula into the "Invoice Date" cell, and then protected the cell so it can't be messed with. In case any of you are nerds with too much free time the formula is: =IF(NOW()>MAX($B$18:$B$34);NOW();MAX($B$18:$B$34))

B18-34 are where you enter the dates worked during that pay period.

The job itself is great, the show tells interesting stories, and the people are cool to work with, but the company is terrible.

Thanks man, I'll keep that just in case I need it.

Lol, you're most welcome.

In the final email exchange I intend to have on this subject this month, the drone suggested I'm going to have to change my system date and time to UK format, or come into the office and use one of their computers to do invoices.

Instead I plan to play the part of "Stupid TV Editor", an artistic genius who cannot deign to follow the complicated, corporate instructions provided by soulless drones in cubicles.

I figure they'll get tired of explaining this over and over and just let it slide. Or they won't pay me on time and I'll sic the union on them. Either way I won't have bowed down to the man.
