Watch me on BBC1 Wednesday (22 Dec)!
« on: December 20, 2010, 03:58:43 PM »
Way back in August, Nigel Slater came round ours, had a poke on our wonderful floating gardens on our moorings, picked a bunch of fruit and veg growing on our boat (and our neighbours' boats!) and made us a lovely lunch.

Well, our episode is finally airing this week, as the last of the season! So if you’re in the UK (or Ireland, or some parts of France and The Netherlands), please tune in to BBC1 on Wednesday 22 December at 20:30 to watch us (In Scotland it’s slightly earlier, 19:05 on BBC2)! We’ll be a 10 minute segment in the middle of the 30min show, so you can see our beautiful moorings and boat in the summertime sunshine. Which is a bit nicer than our deck looks right now!

And you can giggle at my silly bastardised Anglo-American accent.  :-*

Awesome! How did you score that gig?!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I subscribed to the Dig In newsletter ages ago (I thought "great! Someone to tell me when I'm supposed to do stuff in the garden!") and in there they put up a little notice saying something like If you'd like Nigel Slater to come round your garden, email us!. So I emailed a little blurb and then promptly forgot about it for months, until a BBC researcher got in touch, came over for a recce filming, and then Nigel and the crew came over in August. It was a really fun, chillaxed day and he's genuinely a very nice, very calm, and very sincere person. Utterly lovely! So even if the tv spot is truly embarrassing, at least we had fun on the day... :)

Just watched it  ;D

Your boat looked absolutely amazing, what a fantastic location and views, I'm seriously jealous!  And you and your other half looked fantastic too, you came over really natural, friendly and relaxed and your accent was absolutely fine.

I really enjoyed it, never watched that programme before so I'm now converted.

Thanks for letting us know...and isn't it great that Scotland was first at something for a change  ;)

That was brilliant! You are growing amazing things on your boat. Your accent sounded perfect; I wonder if viewers were able to identify you as American (you say tomato, I say tomato ;)). I would have loved to see more of your boat. How exciting!!!!

Oh thank you!!! I can exhale now, it was all fine! :) I'm happy our cat, Bosco, got a cameo, as did our neighbours' cat, Audrey, too (Bosco was the black one).

Now to track it down to edit and post to my family...

Edit: I can't edit the first post anymore but here's the iPlayer link if you're in the UK!

The British Allotments segment starts at about 10:50 if people want to skip right to it.
