I mailed myself 2 identical large packages from the US last Monday.  My dad mailed me a small padded envelope yesterday (because I'm a doofus and left my hat in my car).  The 3-way race is ON!

One of the large packages turned up yesterday!  Wonder where the other one is.  Not too bad time-wise -- they were mailed on Jan 24, and one arrived on Feb 11.  I hope the other one shows up.   :-\\\\

I'm waiting on two packages that were sent to me from Wales last month, I also sent a package that has not arrived, tho that was sent only two weeks ago. Why, why, why does it take so long for things to get to their destination?!

I LOVE See's candy, but can't bring myself to pay the postage to the UK. Have your chocolates finally arrived? A friend is bringing a See's Easter Egg when they visit at the end of the month... Can't wait!!!!

But can you trust her not to EAT them? :D For me there is friendship and then there is chocolate. ;)

Our issue is packages being delivered to the wrong building. When no one at the other building on our street accepts the package, it is taken back to the mail depot. When we call to ask about it, we are told it was delivered once and is now up to us to come claim it. I'm not sure how the delivery driver repeatedly going to the wrong building is our fault. I could see having to go get it ourselves if it was due to an error on our part. We're on a dead end street with only two buildings. I would have thought someone used to making deliveries would think to try the other building if they had no luck at the first one.

Update:

After 3 months(!!) the See's parcel arrived back in California, with my address circled and a big No written in black pen. w-t-f. The friend threw it in the bin as they're clearly not good anymore.

So sad, what a waste of chocolates... And seriously, wtf?

Yeah, we're just like..not getting mail at all anymore.  Our entire building (5 apartments)..we've been getting between 1-2 pieces a day.  It used to be at least 10-20.  I don't know what the heck is happening.

I don't know if anyone else saw the notice on the Royal Mail website, but I'm sooooo happy I paid all that extra money to send my packages.

Quote
USA
Start date: 18th November 2010
End date: Ongoing

Update 7th March 2011:

Further to the recent increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines to the USA, Royal Mail has continued to work with relevant airlines and deploy a range of contingency measures and routes to get as much mail to the States as quickly as possible.

We are pleased to confirm that the vast majority of items have now reverted back to being flown to the USA, with only a small amount of mail having to be diverted to alternative routes, including sea containers.

As a result, most items, including personal and business letters and packets, should be delivered in the US within a few days of posting.  However, delays of about two weeks may continue for heavier packets sent by social (non-contract) customers that are still unable to fly due to security restrictions.  We are continuing to explore alternative solutions for these items, to return them to air transit as soon as possible

Royal Mail is very sorry for the recent unavoidable delays; we are continuing to work to minimise disruption to our customers, whilst ensuring we comply fully with the US directives and regulations.
