Reading Shantaram.  It's the true story of a guy who escaped prison in Australia, moved to India, became a doctor, a drug runner and a rebel soldier!  It's over 900 pages but they're flying by!  And he actually wrote the book while he was back in prison (don't know how he got caught as I haven't gotten that far in yet).

I'm plowing through Tokyo Vice and it hurts so much to put it down! I dare anyone to read the first few pages and see if they can put it down. Even if you don't know much about Japan or the Yakuza or crime in general, you'll probably find it a good read.

I'm reading Henrietta's War which is a series of fictional letters written from the home-front in WWII. It reminds me a lot of EM Delafield's Provincial Lady series - similar humour. I'm loving it.

Total love!  I credit Hardy with helping me get my job. When asked the question "what makes you stand out in a crowd" I answered "I'm usually one of the few people in the room who really likes reading Thomas Hardy."  It cracked my interview panel up, is totally true, and they still introduce me that way on occasion: "This is Jennie, she's the one who actually enjoys reading Hardy."
:)
I'm switching back and forth between re-reading the Redwall series (I'll miss you, Brian Jacques!) and "The Curse of the Wendigo", a YA book that has the honour of being one of the few books to ever make me gasp and then gag because of a particularly scary/gross part. It would make a GREAT movie.

Still slogging through the Count of Monte Cristo. I'm enjoying the story, but man, the guy babbles on.

I haven't read that one yet (although I can't believe people would put a kitten in a bookdrop, but as an ex-librarian, I can).  I keep seeing Casper the Commuting Cat around, but it might be because he's a local celebrity.  Anyway, it's on my reading list.  Right now, I'm reading A Little Aloud and England For All Seasons, a book my grandmother sent me when she found out I was moving here.

I read this book ages ago and loved it.  It is a wonderful read.

Have finished Bill Bryson's Notes from a Small Island.  Enjoyed it!

Have finished Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and am looking forward to The Girl Who Played with Fire, however, I am going to read Ordinary Thunderstorms by William Boyd first.

Just started Agatha Christie's The Mysterious Affair at Styles.  It's my first Agatha Christie and I am loving it so far!

Just finished My Life in France by Julia Child.  I could hear her voice as I read it - fun!  Has inspired me to cook again.
