Oh well.  At least now I don't feel so deprived about not visiting any beaches this summer.  I've got all the pleasures of Scarborough right at my toetips.

I ask that we all have a few moments of silence for my toenail, which had to be peeled from my toe this morning after many weeks of sickness.  It was a strong toenail, a valiant toenail, a toenail who needed no introduction upon entering a room.  Just a few days ago, at a gathering of family and friends, someone said "Hey there, Lindsay's toenail!  Why, your reputation precedes you!"

The burial will be this afternoon.  My toenail's dying wish was for me to play Magic Toenail from Space Ghost at the funeral.  Let's all sing along!

I have a magic toenail
I keep it on my foot
Its always there to rescue me
It has the cutest cuticle
Free of all disease
As toenails go,
Its really quite extra-ordinary
Thank you, thank you
Thank you magic toenail

I love my magic toenail
Its magical and good,
Sometimes I'll take my magic toenail to lunch
And give it a sandwich
Because it likes to eat the sandwiches

Thank you, thank you
Thank you magic toenail

I love you magic toenail

~

Goodbye old friend.

So long as it smells better than the said toenail...

First of all RIP to your toenail....

My husband is going through the same thing with his thumb at the moment, but he won't pull it off - I think it would hurt.

I have NO toenails at all on my little toes...I think it started with wearing the wrong sized hiking boots for a while...they got weak (never turned black though) and then when I went to cut them one time, I noticed that they just "came off".

I hope you and your new toe will be very happy together...  ;)

It took several weeks before I was able to pull my toenail off because it was still attached to skin.  Yesterday I noticed it was looser than usual and was able to pull it off pretty easily, but it was still yucky (no offense, my dearly departed toenail).

My new nail is growing in but it's very tiny and the rest of my toe is without nail.  I thought it would be raw and painful to touch it, but it's actually totally fine.  Or shall I say toe-tally fine?

Har har har!

Howdy, folks.  I thought you may like an update on the toenail situation.  My new nail is much sturdier than the last, but an odd shape and color.  My hopes of being a toenail model have been dashed, but I am trying to rediscover my destiny in life - does anyone have any tips on nostril flare-powered sailing?

ROFL!!  [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh3.gif]  :D

First time I've noticed this thread and it's cracking me up!!!!
One toe-nail isn't so bad....

I use to ride horses, and I got steped on one day. (didn't have proper shoes on...oops) ended up breaking 3 toes and loosing four of my toe nails. OUCH!!! My toes still look crooked from it. (and it took ages for my nails to grow back)

Aimiloo:

This toenail does not have an odour of the sea.  Every toenail has its pros and cons!

And "whew!" about the modeling.  I will keep my options open, then.

ImissEngland:

Ouch, indeed!  Did your nails grow back looking.... wrong?   :-\\\\
