Hey j2j not that I know of. I only got an automated email when I sent the receipt for my upgrade. I also had my husband in Scotland send a physical piece as well to Sheffield. But no, I have received nothing from Sheffield :/

Not everyone who upgraded got any sort of acknowledgement. You've done all you can.  :)

Thanks larrabee. Yeah I definitely intend on providing as much evidence of my self-employed finances.

The following documentation will be provided:

1. Last financial year invoices
2. Bank statements in my name matching those invoices
3. Bank statement of the last three months showing continued self-employment
4. Offer letter from new salaried job lined up in the UK
5. Signed contracted from new salaried job lined up in the UK

A lot of the paragraph seven contents aren't relevant since I'm working in the US, such as self employed registration with HMRC and the like.
Entered U.K.: 29 December 2017
FLR(M) Applied: 16 June 2020 (Standard)
FLR(M) Approved: 16 October 2020

SET(M) Approved: 20 January 2023
Naturalisation Applied: 8 May 2023
Naturalisation Approved: 25 September 2023
Citizenship Ceremony: 19 October 2023
Passport applied: 25 October 2023
Passport docs received at HMPO: 02 November 2023

You'll have to watch your travel window really closely.  If your entry (even after paying to change the vignette which can take another month) takes past 90 days, it'll mean you will need an extra visa application before qualifying for ILR.

Personally I would recommend cancelling the application now (you can still get a refund as you haven't attended biometrics) and reapplying in September.  Processing times should be MUCH faster than anyways.

Is there a reasonable equivalent of each item from paragraph 7 though? If there is, you would need to provide that too. If there is not, I would address each point in a letter and explain that there is not an equivalent. Don't just leave it out with no explanation.

The guidance states.
Quote
8. In respect of self-employment outside of the UK, evidence should be a reasonable equivalent to that set out in paragraph 7.

Didn't someone just recently have their vignette valid from November 2017 and she was questioned how she got it issued that far out?

Yeah, I asked her about that. I'm not sure if she paid extra. But apparently, she had put that date as her preferred travel date to be safe:

hi! i had always planned for november, assuming i suppose that we MAY had needed more time for the application to process...

Thanks solaire129, that was a helpful link.

I've sent a request to the UK Border Agency for more information with questions (and paid the lovely 5.65 surcharge for the benefit to do so..). The link provided had other side discussions with similar information to what we experienced - the site allowed us to choose a date further out than three months. We will reply back once we've obtained more information from our request.

I wouldn't get your hopes up that you'll receive any sort of a useful reply. At best it'll be non-information. At worst it'll be incorrect.

My wife and I have been through this before, albeit a different country's visa process, but very similar. I arrived in the U.S. on a fiance's K-1 visa in May of 2015, and we filed for permanent resident after our wedding. We are completely aware of how ambiguous and misleading government agencies can be about their own policies. That process alone took almost a year for approval before I could even arrive in the U.S. (just waiting, we provided everything up front without any refusals).

Either way, we'll see what they have to say and then take all of what we've been told into consideration to determine our next steps. We have no intention of jumping the gun and canceling our application before hearing that response, though we're grateful for the experienced tips and help provided thus far.

Yeah, I asked her about that. I'm not sure if she paid extra. But apparently, she had put that date as her preferred travel date to be safe:

You can't 'pay extra' for something like that. The rules are clear: they will only issue a visa to start up to 3 months ahead of the date of application.

This instance of a vignette being issued starting more than 3 months ahead was the first time I've ever heard of this happening in the 10.5 years I've been on the forum. So, I'm assuming it was just a mistake made by the ECO deciding the visa and that it should not have been issued starting on that date.

You can only apply for a new vignette if your current one has expired and you were unable to travel in that time - so you can't 'extend' the 30-day vignette, because it's only valid for 30 days... instead you have to apply for a new one, valid another 30 days.

As a new UKVI week begins here's sending you all the positive vibes for the week ahead and hope to see some more decision emails and approvals come through this week.

As a side note, and having seen this on a few forums (can't remember which ones) but according to a few, as of June 1st UKVI had about 40,000 applications to process, additionally and since march of this year (I have checked this online) they have been recruiting additional ECO's to cope with the demand (I believe they had to hire about 250 extra people).

Based on the job descriptions on forums where people had applied for these roles (mostly recent grad students) they expect approximately each ECO to process about 20 applications per day to help with the current demand, here's hoping that they whiz through them all and get everything moving along swiftly :-)
Type of Application: FLR M
Country applying from: UK, London
Nationality: US Citizen
Online application: 12th June 2020
Sopra Steria Doc Upload: TBC
Biometrics: Awaiting to book appointment
FLR M Received/New BRP: Awaiting

For them to process 20 applications in a day (assuming a day is 8 hours) the eco would have to get through 2.5 applications every hour. That is one every 24 minutes throughout the day. That is just not possible.

We can't tell you how many times the "help line" has given incorrect information CAUSING a visa to be refused.  The official guidance is what we recommend following.
