Congrats!

They put the wrong middle initial for my husband on the vignette in my passport.  It was not a problem--to be honest I didn't even notice until recently, when we got my passport out for a job interview and he went 'Wait, my middle initial isn't that....'

I hope this is right.  Keep in mind my experience is just anecdotal.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I also saw a thing from Warwick University re:mistakes in student visas that implied it's not a problem to get them fixed once you get there. And thanks Solaire!

I would assume Mac/Mc mistakes are pretty common in the UK so would hope they'd be lenient. But does seem like I got the slightly faster, sloppy person!

They also didn't include husband's MI at all. Presumably also not a problem?

My BRP doesn't list my husband's name at all so it may not be an issue once you have switched from the vignette. (this is assuming there is no difference between a FLR and initial spousal visa BRP)

Same but I know they are constantly making changes.

I agree with Larabee and deal with it once you are in country.  Do be mindful that if you have to send the BRP in to be fixed (within the UK), you could be "stuck" and unable to travel while it's being corrected.  It won't surprise you that they are NOT quick (changes to BRP's take about 6 months).

I don't think anyone will care - ever.  But best to check after you arrive.

And congratulations!

Ok, thank you! So to everyone's knowledge, is there no spouse's name on the BRP? /Has there ever been? I'm scared of having to lose travel ability for that long from the UK, because most of our elderly relatives are outside the country--and I (hope to) need to travel for conferences etc--but I guess if anything goes wrong with it, I can still ask you all once I get there!

The guidance note for BRPs don't specify that the sponsor's name appears on the BRP, it just says that the visa category is stated.(https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/533854/BRP_OA_information_leaflet_-_July_2016.pdf)

My old vignette listed my status as 'Spouse/CP of XX Beatlemania' whereas the BRP which arrived last week just says 'Spouse/CP Right to Work.'  I don't know if the name has ever been on the BRP, though.

Yes just the vignette has the name and not the BRP for me.

Since they ask your spouse's name the first time you come in on the vignette, I thought it was so that the border officer can verify the fact that you know your spouse's name.

I thought it was really cool having my name on the vignette!  :D

That's great! Thanks everyone. Ooh one other thing... On the application i stated we would be entering the country together, but turns out the first time I probably have to go alone--is that a problem?

Not if he is there first. You just can't get there before him.  :)
