Very relieved to have it sent off.  It's scary that it's completely out of our hands now, but at the same time we know we did everything we can do.  Now it's up to a nameless, faceless government employee who will decide the course of our future.  Exciting!!!  :o :o

Same here love. I've read a few times that the average amount of time it takes is 5-6 business weeks, so we have this week and next week or else I will truly go mad LOL.

I thought about the priority last night and they have to open things to get your email to confirm with you so they would've had to see my VFS receipt and my return shipping. RIGHT?! Crossing my fingers that our date buddies get some news this week, I certainly need some good news

For what it's worth, when I handed in my application I was told that it would take 6-8 weeks for my priority fiance visa to be processed (and 8- 12 weeks for non-priority). However, people we consulted said that, for North American fiance visas, 3-4 weeks was generally the norm.

Since we paid priority our solicitor said it would be no longer than 3 weeks. Clearly that’s not the case lol going on our 4th week wait.
Fingers crossed this will be our week.

My job ends this week.

That was highly irresponsible of him/her.  There's literally no way of knowing how long it will take once it's sent off, and to get a clients' hopes up like that is just horrible.  I hope you get a decision soon!

My job ends this week.

When priority processing was first introduced, it was a 15-working day (3-week) service. However, a few years ago UKVI took out the ‘15-working days’ part of the description and amended it to ‘your application will put to the front of the processing line’... which means they no longer have to guarantee 3-week processing.

So, your solicitor told you information that was around 3-5 years out of date (can’t remember exactly when they changed it).

Priority processing over this summer (well, from February/March onwards really) was taking 6-8 weeks. Last summer it was about 5-6 weeks.

At quiet times of the year it can be as fast as 2-5 working days, but this year has been a crazy year - Sheffield started processing applications from many more countries and it has caused a massive backlog of applications... which is why it’s still taking so long even now, in November, whereas this is normally a quiet, fast time of year.

I thought so based on watching people’s timelines. He hadn’t been the best solicitor. Even spelled my name wrong on the documents. And put two different addresses in one document. Thankfully i caught these mistakes before submission. I would be leery of recommending him to others.

Honestly, unless you have serious criminal convictions or a bad UK immigration history, there is no need to use a solicitor/lawyer at all. Most of them don’t know what they are talking about and end up giving bad advice because of it.

Also, all the information you need to successfully apply for the visa can be found for free on the UKVI website and also here on the forum. The number of people who have found this forum after having been given bad advice by a lawyer is pretty substantial.

Anyone ever wonder if this small group of people that post on here accurately respesents what’s going on generally with visa applications? Like, there’s tons of people that have applied and don’t post. I wonder if any of them have heard back yet??

Just thinking, contemplating. Sort of impatiently waiting at the end of BD 22.

It’s actually quite accurate!  Small sample set but the stats always line up.

I️ think it’s probably generally representative of the larger trends, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking!

Ours said exactly the same. We even booked her flights to the UK as our solicitor said it would be fine. More expense and hassle *sigh*

Wow, that's shockingly bad advice!  Hopefully they gave good advice for the application.
