How's it going MrsMagpie?  :D

Hi!! I'm here in the UK! Super jet-lagged and super tired after partying with my husband and step-daughter all weekend. LOL! Can't believe I'm finally here. It's surreal that I don't have to leave again.  :)

Yes, that's the plan! I figured this week will be a kind of slow, getting adjusted, getting my head on straight week. My husband gets off of work early on Friday so we'll go pick up my BRP then. Until then I've got some class work to keep me busy.  :)

YAY ... Welcome home...so glad you made it  :)

Thank you!!! It's so exciting!  :D

Hi all!

I'm so happy to announce that I was APPROVED! My flight is booked for entry on October 31st! I'm so relieved and excited to finally begin life with my husband!

We did the priority spouse settlement visa service, and our timeline is in my signature. For those of you who have seen my other posts, you know it was a crazy journey. We messed up a lot, and I just posted with some big things that I learned from the whole process. Best wishes to those of you who are still waiting. I hope you receive approvals super quickly!

Good luck to you too! We got the visa on 17 October, two days after the decision email. Just to pre-warn you, there is no covering letter in the package - you have to open the passport itself to see if there is a shiny gold decal in there.

Congratulations on getting your visa :).

As aliceinchains3 is applying for an Unmarried Partner visa, she WILL get a covering letter in the package, which will give details of how, when and where she needs to pick up her BRP card when she arrives in the UK.

As you applied for a fiance visa, the process is different, because it is only valid for 6 months, and is issued as a 6-month visa sticker in the passport, so there's no BRP to pick up and therefore, no need for a letter.

However, a spousal visa (or an unmarried partner visa) is issued as a 30-day entry vignette, and then a 33-month BRP card, so an approval letter will be sent, giving details of how to get the BRP.

So, the different situations are:

- Fiance visa approval = no letter
- Fiance visa refusal = refusal letter included

- Spousal or Unmarried Partner visa approval = visa approval/BRP letter included
- Spousal or Unmarried Partner visa refusal = refusal letter included

Thank you very much for clarifying - there I was trying to be helpful, since my other half got very stressed out when she opened the package and couldn't find a letter, but of course different types of applications have different outcomes.

I'm now trying to book a flight for my partner and our dog - which is also proving to be a stressful experience. We have a vet in Cedar Rapids who knows all the hoops to jump through to qualify for the UK Pet Travel Scheme, but getting a flight both of them can travel on is the next hurdle.

p.s. thank you very much for helping me with the document submission. It was very helpful. I had a one hour session with a lawyer who told me I needed "up to 200 pages of IM messages", and letters of support from friends as supporting relationship evidence, and you were a voice of calm good sense in that area.

No problem :).

It used to be that no one applying outside the UK got a letter for a visa approval, because all the visas were issued as stickers in the passport, valid for the full length of the visa. However, in May 2015, they introduced BRP cards for all visas valid more than 6 months, so they were issued in 2 parts, with an approval letter sent, but visas valid 6 months or less stayed the same (just a passport sticker and no letter).

Fingers crossed you manage to get the flight booked with minimal hassle :).

No problem at all :). It's so frustrating that lawyers tell people to include all of that stuff when it's completely not required.
