I can’t imagine that it will be an issue.

That's great to hear - thanks for your response!

Wow, lucky you!  Congrats!

Question for those that have been around here a while.  How can this be?  The way I see it, there are 2 explanations....

1) This is a completely random process and they don't process them in any kind of order

or

2) There is a problem with the applications that were received before this one, causing them to be skipped over

What am I missing?

I was settled in for a long wait as a Non Priority applicant. But........ I think it's just the fickle finger of fate at work? Timing? The alignment of the planets? Whatever?

Online application: Oct 31
Biometrics: Nov 3
Package sent : Nov 3
Package arrived: Nov 6
UKVI opened and confirmed receipt: Nov 11
Decision email from UKVI: Nov 24
Passport return: Nov 27th
Spousal stamp in place.

Congratulations :).

Honestly, it may just be that we're finally getting back to 'normal' processing times.

Usually, when Sheffield aren't busy and there's no backlog, the processing times are more like:
Priority = 2-5 working days
Non-Priority = 5-15 working days

The processing times this year (since Feb/Mar) have been extraordinarily long... the summer months are usually the worst anyway, but Sheffield started processing applications from many more countries than normal, which caused backlogs and long delays. However, your processing time is actually very normal for November, based on historical processing times over the last 10 years).

We'll have to see how things go for December though, as there's usually a Christmas rush as well.

That's very interesting.

Me and my fiancee are currently considering whether we ought to go for the same day service once were married and she needs to covert her fiancee visa to a full spousal visa.

Any idea on what the current turn around time is for this?  I'm unsure which timeline I should we looking at for this info.

Thanks again.

The timeline for the FLR(M) visa (which is what she will be converting to) is completely different to the fiance/spousal visa.

The processing standards time for postal applications is 8 weeks, but for the last 10 months or so, they have been taking 5-6 weeks as standard.

That isn't really very long at all (it has taken up to 4-6 months in the past and even as long as 10-12 months back in 2012)... so unless there's an urgent reason why she needs her passport back quickly - such as you need to travel or she needs to start working ASAP - I wouldn't waste your money on the in-person appointment.

I wonder if after the influx of applications from other countries/summer backlog, they hired on and trained more employees, which means faster processing times now that the backlog has cleared?

That's my hopeful theory anyway  :D

Is it too late to be added to this Fall Priority list?

More likely because fewer people apply in the autumn than do at the beginning of summer.  :)

We are about to push the button and start the process. Does anyone know if the Sheffield office is closed for like two weeks or anything crazy for the holidays or just the usual Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years Day?

Thanks,

NWKH

I'm pretty sure that while there may be some extra employees on personal holiday, they just have the govt holidays off for the staff.
