I'm confused now, there was a tray of really good mash potatoes with something else like parsnip mixed in, I figured that was the neeps and tatties.  The  thing that had the ham was not mash.

I didn't realise it was a Scottish holiday of some sort.  Did you have the day off?

Yeah, St Andrews Day. But, no...we don't get a day off.
Stovies are one of those things that different families make different ways.  It's just a means of serving up leftovers, traditionally.  But I've always had it as a mashed potato dish with bits of meat in.  Not smooth mash, more chunky.

Why did I think a stovie was a sandwich?  I swear Phatbeetle told me that.  It was more like a pulled pork stew.

You are so lucky with your beer and good Scottish food!

I never!  :o  I told you that it was leftover roast beef and mashed potatoes all mushed together, served with oatcakes.  I like it with brown sauce on top.  Heavenly at that.
