SoS's mom's house?

What???

Never saw it coming.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Oh man, that's scary.

We've had reports of folks stealing fuel oil in our rural area.  Which is bad enough.

We have locks that need the key to open them - I like to leave the keys in the door, because I always have a fear that if there is a fire, I won't be able to get out.   Now, not sure what to do!

Ours are the same.  The police detective said to leave a key nearby that we know where it is in case of an emergency.  She said a hook on the wall is fine.  You just don't want someone to be able to get to the key through the letter box.

This whole letter box thing... I about jump out of my skin most days when the postman comes because there is quiet, quiet, quiet, and then a loud thump in my hall way that sounds as if someone is in the house.  ::)

And most of the mail is for the prior resident, anyway.

Police Detective was back again last night to get another form signed about willing to be witnesses if the case goes to trial as the bad guy has been caught!

Dude was known to police.  But was caught because they stole phones and ipads from the house they got into - and were found with Find My iPhone.   :D   Thought I'd let you guys know.
