Back in the olden days when I applied (November 2012), decision made emails told you the decision.  Six weeks later, in early January, I knew it was getting close to time for my decision, so I was checking my email on my phone about 30 times a day (as we all do).  I just happened to be out shopping, and in this instance buying crickets for my now-SIL's geckos when I got the news.  The poor staff member scooping up the bag of crickets for me thought I was having a seizure.  I was trying not to make a scene, as my eyes welled up with tears and I started shaking and bouncing up and down.  I couldn't even see straight to verify that I'd read it correctly after the first reading!

LOL...that poor staff member..LOL....
Awe...to bad it still isn't like that (email notification)
I am checking the UPS tracking every day but I try to keep it til late in the day (UK time) when business time is closed. I still find myself checking 2-5 times a day...Just depends on the anxiety for that day...LOL

Buying your SIL's gecko some crickets.  I've heard it all now!

I just couldn't figure out why YOU were in a Petsmart.  I know you love our animal pics but I know you don't have any.  ;D

I absolutely love animals and have many spiders as pets (my favourite one lives in our bathroom, and I call him Spidey and talk to him every time I go in there).  I just am not responsible enough to have a dog or anything that requires cage or tank cleaning, and my husband is allergic to cats.  So no furry pets for us.

Nathan and I were talking last night and we decided when I get back we are going to take up beekeeping...I am super excited. We both love animals but we don't want to take on pets at least not now. We want to do some traveling and can't really do that when you have a pet that requires daily care.

Awe...to bad it still isn't like that (email notification)

This is the email (and where I forwarded the news to my now-husband).  I agree that it was a better system.  Now when a decision is made, applicants have a drastically heightened level of anxiety for the last couple of days of their wait when they know their fate is sealed, but they don't know what it is, yet.

I’m doing the exact same!! I basically go between refreshing this forum and my UPS tracking info all day.

Also I can’t believe you used to get decisions by email! Why on earth would they change that? I swear UKVI just likes to mess with our heads....

Yay bees!  If our lawn and/or flowerbeds get out of control, I just shrug and say, "'I'm helping the pollinators."   I will rationalize my laziness!

It happened when they shifted applications from being processed in NYC to Sheffield.  Now they don't tell you.  If your application is processed in NYC they DO still tell you (but that's now just work, student, and visitor visas).

I've read that even hairless breeds cause allergy symptoms, because the antagonist is in the saliva or skin excretions, or something.  But without fur,  I guess they don't bathe as much or leave saliva-ridden hair everywhere... maybe?

Remember UPS will update only once per day, by around 6/7pm UK time.  At least save yourselves that frustration.  Don't look before 5pm or after 7pm.  Save yourself that step.  ;D
