Buffalo Wild Wings? nope!
« on: February 14, 2019, 10:35:03 AM »
I am mildly irritated... I just learned that f'in Vietnam has legitimate Buffalo Wild Wings locations, but not the UK.  Vietnam!!!  And their branding on tbe front even says the affectionate form of their name: B-Dubs.  Vietnam!

What is wrong with the British?  Seriously.

Is Duff's here?  I mean, really... I'll take virtually any brand.  How has it not caught on?

No, no duffs either. If I had the capability I would open a shop though! Only thing is it needs parking/to be on a transit line and sit down space because takeaway wings are never as good as fresh from the fryer.

I was astonished to find that Thailand has plenty of Diary Queens.  Why Thailand?

There was one in the airport right went I got off the plane.  Hello!

They also have a 7-11 on every corner.

Unfortunately, I've never tried the wings you are talking about.  What's special about them?

They're not particularly special, by US standards.  But they're consistently good, and you can have your choice of about a billion* sauces, so whatever heat level you are comfortable with is up to you.

I'm just surprised that a food as ubiquitous in the US as buffalo wings is so hard to find here (at least, good ones are), and yet a US chain that is devoted to them is in Vietnam.  That's almost as strange as Dairy Queen in Thailand (yes, I concede that your find is much stranger than mine!).

* They don't really have a billion options, but it's close!  ;)

I find that tons of places serve buffalo wings and like you say, most aren't good.  Nandos is good though.

Welll if it's going to go anywhere, might as well be Nottingham.

Hubby and I so love buffalo wings and miss them so much. I wish there were buffalo wing shops here too. My English hubby caught onto loving them quickly in his visits to the U S

I feel like BW3 would be easier to manage than a Mexican restaurant.  We could keep the menu really short and simple... who wants to perfect the Buffalo wing?  Ooooh... wings and cheesesteaks!   I think that's a perfect menu.  Unless we want to include hot dogs.  Proper American hot dogs, with all the toppings choices and different types of 'dogs (including all beef, and spicy ones, and "Polish sausages", red hots (which are a thing I've never had, but the people who swear by them swear by them), corndogs!!!, etc.)...

Yeah.  So, I want a hot dog, Buffalo wings, and cheesesteak stand.  And I want to be conflicted every time I go, because I can't decide what terrible food to order.

Wouldn't be shocked if it's because the East seems to have a serious admiration for the Western way of life/brands (especially American). In Japan, they seemed to LOVE American food (hamburgers lol) and American brands.

My experiences with speaking to Brits about American culture is vastly different to the Japanese I've spoken to haha

I missed buffalo wings terribly. By coincidence, my MIL gave us an air fryer for Christmas. My husband then experimented with buffalo wings and they were surprisingly good. Crispy, decent sauce and he even made blue cheese dressing. They weren’t Duff’s but they were better than a lot of places in the US. I was thrilled.

Now I just need decent Mexican and Claussen deli dills. Sigh.
