Why is it that I’m out of the country when the UK has a heatwave?!

It’s about 33 Celsius here in Orlando, but with the usual showers/thunderstorms in the afternoons.

I just got a text from my sister. It is 43C in their offices and folks are working with wet towels on their heads and necks.

Our outside thermometer currently says 34.  I just took a short circular walk to post a card and confirm to myself how hot that feels.  We have a nice breeze blowing but when I got back after 20 minutes I was starting to sweat a little.

36 outside here. Because of my asthma and being unable to open windows most days we have an AC - but it definitely doesn't cope well in this. Have put paper over the south facing windows to help reduce the sun coming in and it made a huge difference.

39C here now, according to OK Google...

I had to attend a doctor appointment this morning and was out at 8am. Started sweating within minutes of leaving the flat.

According to my thermometer it is 37 outside and 28 inside where I!m sitting, with windows and curtains closed and a fan blowing on me. Not bad at all, particularly knowing that tomorrow’s high is only going to be 20.

Before 10 we were outside picking the last of our red currants and black currants and doing some other gardening work. Then off for a short walk to my regular Tuesday coffee shop for a scone and a milkshake.
