Hmmm, NADFAS sounds like my sort of thing.

It is wonderful! Let me know if you have any questions about it - some friends and I started up a local chapter in January and we already have about 170 members!

There's loads going on here for people of all ages (just a short walk for you) http://www.heartcentre.org.uk/. And they're always looking for volunteers to do a few hours on reception as well.
That's where the old Bennet Rd. School was, isn't it?  Did not get around to checking that out when I was there -- but will do next time!

Buy you a metal detector and join a local detecting group, they go on outings and such and the age range is so wide spread I"m sure you'll meet someone closer to your age, but as I read in one of the other posts, age is just a number. I'm 53, my wife is 30, so we have friends a little older than me and a little younger than her and most inbetween...friendship, companionship shouldn't be about the age of the person but the interests you share. Good luck.
