Have you ever tried Pirate's Booty? It GREAT! :)

Pirate's Booty is good, but Whole Foods' Angel Fluffs are better! ;D

Sighs...I will miss Whole Foods the most!

But ... it's coming to London!! There's a thread about it somewhere. There's a small chain of stores in the UK called Fresh & Wild which has been bought out by WF. And they plan on opening new WF stores around the country! So don't despair!! :)

I miss Morningstar, too.

I've only seen the bacon here but surely they sell other stuff. Although, it may be different in Scotland.

I don't know about their other products but Morningstar bacon was taken off the market here - something to do with additives in it.   Realeat do a nice vego bacon though.

Really? We only just bought some a few weeks ago. Awww, that'll really suck. I like them because they taste like American streaky bacon. Bummer.

those wee mini corn dogs that morningstar makes are yumtastic.

the chick'n nuggets make me happy, too. just don't overcook them or you'll dislocate your jaws.

the bacon is sooooo good--haven't heard anything here (chicago) about it being pulled from shelves ???

the only problem with all this stuff is the sodium level--there's way too much salt in it to have it as a regular part of your diet.  :-\\\\

the availability of incredible vegetarian indian food in the uk makes me giddy ;D

That's SO exciting!!! I miss Whole Foods a lot. Though we did used to refer to it as Whole Paycheck!

I was veg. for about 8 years and vegan for about 3 and even though I'm lapsed now, I still really like fake meat! I luuuurved those vegie corn dogs. Mmmm. Along with these weird organic tater tots (I think Cascadian Farms made them) that used to be my comfort food treat!

Am I the only one who dislikes "fake meat"? I do eat chicken and fish, but not red meat -- haven't had any for 29 years. But the reason I don't eat red meat is neither for health nor ethical reasons. It's just that I can't stand the texture, the flavour ... the sheer meatiness of it! So all these meat substitutes don't really do much for me. I'd much rather have a big plate of vegetables. Does anyone else feel this way too?

That's not real chicken. It's vile. I don't blame your hubby! There's too much good real food in the world to waste time (and calories) on fake stuff!

This is why I don't eat much red meat now.  I've never cared for ground beef because of the texture, so a meat substitute wouldn't do it for me.  I was a strict vegetarian for years just because I didn't like red meat!  Neither my husband or I care much for the texture of soy in general.  I like that there are meat-free options here that don't all involve soy.

I'd rather have real meat over fake meat but my husband obviously won't eat it. I don't know why he eats fake meat, though. He's been a vegetarian for about 16 years now. He doesn't even remember what meat tastes like (and yet will try something new and he'll be all like "ooh, tastes just like real chicken". I just smile and nod)

I suppose it's good as a filler. We like to have mexican a lot but I just can't eat fajitas that are all vegetables. I need something chicken like to make it nice.
