Not a vegetarian but I notice that on most things I buy the label will say "veg" or "vegan."

I'm a quasi-vegetarian -- I don't eat anything with 4 legs. I find it really easy in the UK. Really, really easy. I'm not in Scotland, so can't comment on what it'll be like there, but I have no problems at all in Wales. Fresh produce is incredible here. There are weekly farmer's markets in most villages and the stuff is great! Also, if you go out for a meal, even the smallest, most out-of-the-way pub will have at least one vegetarian option on the menu.

Im not a vegetarian myself, but... it looks easy enough.   I mean, we have vegetables here (!!) and in the supermarket there are loads of vegetarian meat substitute things like Quorn, Linda McCartney, Cauldron, etc.  And as someone else said, every restaurant menu has at least 1 veggie option.

There are several vegetarian restaurants in Glasgow, such as Mono, Grassroots Cafe, and the 13th Note.   Plus, there are endless Indian restaurants, all of which offer many different veggie curry dishes.

It's not quite so easy to be a vegan. Eating at home is easy, obviously, but eating out as a vegan is nearly impossible. Most dishes will have dairy in, and even getting a salad dressing without dairy or egg can be troublesome. We don't ever eat out for this very reason (apart from the fact that I'm super-cheap and can't stand to spend a week's grocery money on one meal!)

Have no idea about Scotland as I live in the Midlands.

It's very easy to be veggie. The main supermarkets all label their own brand goods as suitable for vegetarians (or not) and they all carry a selection of meat substitute type products. Most towns have at least one health food shop too.  Also most restaurants have decent veggie options these days. Is there anything in particular you are worried about not finding here?

I'm a veg - I always say I don't eat anything with a face :)  so no fish as well (it's amazing how many people think vegetarians eat fish).  Anyway we find it a lot easier here in London to be veg than in the US - mainly because most of the products are labeled properly.  Also most restaurants have labels on the items that are veg.  Only thing is, we miss out on a lot of the 'traditional' English dishes - steak & kidney pie, pasties, yorkshire pudding, etc.  Not that we are sad we can't have the meat, but it would be nice to go to a real Sunday lunch just to see what it's like.  Also pubs are crap for vegetarians...the one veg dish is usually not very nice.  Anyway I just eat chips and I'm fine.   :)  I can see how being a vegan would be tough...much tougher than lacto-ovo vegetarian.

I find it easier than in the US.  Restaurants always have several vegetarian options.  David Bann and Henderson's are two vegetarian restaurants in Edinburgh that I've been to.  I find that there are also a lot of meat-free/meat-substitute items in the grocery stores, like frozen bean burgers, meatless sausages, etc.  My husband and I don't care for soy products and it seems like in the US, most vegetarian products are made with soy.  We've found a lot of choices here that are just made with veggies/grains without soy.

I'm worried about finding soy milk (I love the Silk brand) and my favorite mayo..Vegenasie.  Besides that, I'm not really worried, as I don't eat much "mock meats".
Thanks everyone! :)

Alot of foods are labeled "suitable for vegetarians". There's a shop called Holland & Barrett I go to frequently that specializes in natural, organic health food and vegetarian foods.
Plans on hold 'cuz Brexit

I miss Silk, too, especially the coffee creamer.  Sorry, but, it's not here.  Only Alpro brand and that gnarly Rice Dream.  Yuk.

Vegetarians don't, but vegans do.
