I need to lose about 2st.  But I've also found out that the reason I piled a stone and half on literally overnight is that my thyroid function is VERY low after having a baby, so here's hoping the Thyroxine will help.

I really hope so, because I have a very strong history of heart disease and I am already hypertensive, so I'm stepping up the diet and exercise anyhow.

weesoul (or anyone),  have you found a type of scale that is accurate? My electronic scale is like "weight lotto".  If you don't like the weight it gives, try again until you get one you like.  I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond (stateside) and all the electronic ones seemed to be like that.  There was up to a 15lb difference between the brands.

I wonder if any scales are accurate!  Ever go to someone's house and mention you got on their bathroom scale?  Almost always you are told, 'oh it's off by such and such pounds'!  I really just need to go by how my clothes fit - looser trousers, and I notice especially that my bras no longer fit right.  I know when I'm shrinking!

A 15 lb diff in scales seems outrageous.

It is a bit outrageous Weesoul.  But who knows how out of adjustment they are after being beat up by Bed Bath & Beyond customers on the display floor for a year.  I did feel the urge to buy the most favorable one.  :)

I'd like to publish a book on weight loss if I ever figure it out.  Walked 20 miles last weekend (10 on Saturday, 10 on Sunday) and got nothing out of it weight-wise.  Then did absolutely nothing after that and lost weight.  Complete mystery.

You know, I think it just takes a little bit for your body to adjust to the exercise, because I always feel like I should see more of a result on the scale after a heavy exercising week, but I usually don't see it for a few days or so.

I brought a pair of jeans with me to Uganda that are way too small.  They are a pair of in-between fat and just right size.  I try them on every few weeks.  When they are very loose I'll be happy.

I bought a pair of capris in the US at xmas and wanted to buy a pair a size or two smaller but they didn't have it.  The pair I bought is getting very loose.   ;D

That is what I'm going to do when Dh & I go to the States in late May of this year. I planned on buying a swimsuit, a couple pairs of capris, & a pair or 2 of jeans that are a size smaller so that I something to work towards.  ;D   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

My goal is to lose 2-3 stone in the next year.  I'm not overly fussed about how much I weigh, but I would like to get back down to a 10/12.  I was a 16 when I moved here 4 years ago; just from the lack of car and having to walk places, I was a 14 the day I left the hospital after having DD.  By her 1st birthday, I was down to a size 10. Then, over the next two years, I crept back up to a 14, and then I got pregnant with DS, was on crutches for the entire 3rd trimester and piled on even more weight.  I'm now back up to a 16.  DS is 5 months old now and I haven't been able to shift any of it.

My motivation has been my neighbor.  Over the last couple of years, she has lost a total of 7.5 stone or so.  She got me a guest pass to her gym, and I went and loved it.  So, I joined two weeks ago.  We go 3-5 times a week, and I'm loving it so far.  It's also great because it gets me out of the house, and it's time just for me. I'm primarily doing the tradmill, bikes, and swimming at the moment. I also know that once I have worked out for an hour or two, my reward is time in the steam room :)  The odd bonus with the steam room is even though it is fairly dark, it's really improved my mood, which tends to go pear-shaped every winter.  I think I miss hot weather more than I realized.

Over the last 2 weeks, I suspect I have put on every bit of the weight I lost... I ate constantly while we were on holiday this week. My goal is to get back on track starting Monday, by keeping track of my diet and doing my workout vids 3 x week which I have skipped for the last few weeks.  :(  I hope to lose a stone before June or so.
