I've been following this thread for awhile, and let me just say this to everyone - I'm am amazed and more than a little impressed.  So many of you make actual, real food for dinner every night!  Roasted chicken, salmon, curries.  I'm lucky if I can do more than grill a couple chicken breasts.  Granted, a lot of that stems from having a little 18-month-old monster running around the house.

The other thing that blows my mind is that so many of you know what you're having at, like, nine in the morning!  I have tried and tried to plan meals, but have never been able to make it work.  Dinner is almost always planned out after my husband comes home around 6pm.

Kudos to all of you!!  You rock!!!   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

We had homemade pizzas tonight. Store bought bases but my sauce with mushrooms and chorizo and mozz.

FunGirl, I have to plan for the most part! We're on such a tight budget, but such foodies, we can't afford to do anything but plan as detailed a week as possible. We try to keep a few things on hand, though, that can be whipped up easily if we can't be bothered to make what's supposed to be on the menu that night!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Not only do i know at 9am what we are having that night, i usually know on Monday what we're having on Thursday or Friday!  I try to make a menu plan every week...  helps me plan my grocery shopping.  I like to be organised.  :)

Tonight we had chicken with salsa & melted cheese over it, with new potatoes which were sauteed with onion, garlic & chilli.
Tomorrow my DH is making keema madras!

I'm another menu-planner, and it hangs on the fridge.

It helps with budgeting.  I have other things on hand and of course, we deviate sometimes.  But by following the plan and making a list, we save money by wasting less food.

Tonight, I'm taking the boys out to Chili's to celebrate my son's birthday!

Mmmmm - I miss Chili's! :)  Tonight, I did cajun spice grilled chicken breasts, a few boiled new potatoes (needed using up), steamed broccoli, and a kind of improvised cajun (light) stirfry with courgette, mushroom & onion.  Gave hubby lots of chicken (he's training for a half-marathon) and piled my plate high with veggies because I was STARVING.  I just found the cajun spice mix in with the spices hubby has accumulated & decided to do something with it.

FunGirl - right now I'm a house wench in England, looking (desperately!) for a job.  Once I start working full time, I have no idea if it'll be this organized -- but right now, I have the time.  However, hubby will share kitchen duties with me after I start working (probably trading off nights) -- he cooks on the weekends right now & enjoys cooking too. We are both foodies (and winos... [smiley=drunk.gif])  I'm sure we'll work it out somehow.

Oh I was thinking about doing a fish pie for this evening...but I really would like to tip the scales a little more in my favor for the week, so I don't know.  I may stick to simple grilled salmon & veg...TBD!

Last night my son, Ashton wanted to go to Olive Garden.  I perfer other places but it was his choice and they are child friendly.  I had Eggplant parmigiana. It was good and the portion huge, thank goodness for take away boxes.

Tonight we will dine on airplane food as we head back to the UK. My gourmet review will follow our trip ;)

Yay - Delta!  I  [smiley=smitten.gif] Delta!  (BMI is also nice if you're flying 'oop North'.)

I've usually found Delta's food (and wine) pretty decent.  Are you gonna score places in Business Class?

I am a standby flyer, so if I were traveling alone or my children were both 8 or above, it would be business class all the way.  I have flown Delta Business Class so many times and the food is great!
