Yesterday I had to send an e-mail to my job letting them know that I needed a few days off because my wrist has been bothering me (I do data entry so this was bound to happen at some point!). I just really need to not type all day for a few days. They were fine with it, but I was not looking forward to the smaller paycheck, as I don't get paid if I don't work.

But then, a few hours later, my old internship called me up telling me that they need a PA for a shoot for Thursday-Sunday and was I available. Well, it just so happens that I am!  :) So now I get my break from typing all day and I'll still get paid, and get paid MORE actually. Unexpected and a pleasure indeed!

We signed up for a welcome basket in our new town. We weren't expecting much, but figured it would be a good way to get info about the town and local businesses. It was delivered this morning with all sorts of fun things, including coffee mugs, a travel mug, Mary Kay lotion, several shopping bags - two of which are insulated, freebies for local restaurants, several pens, a piggy bank, a gift certificate for two free cupcakes from the local gourmet cupcake shop and lots more. All of it came in a handy recycling tub. There was even a Pampered Chef catalog. I am excited by it and hubby is terrified by it. He knows my passion for all things Pampered Chef.

Best of all, the man who delivered is a Manchester United fan, and was excited to find there are fellow fans in the area.  ;D

Went to M&S this morning to buy food gifts to take back to the US. They had some tins of shortbread but the pattern I wanted were either out of date or dented. I asked a young male employee if they had any others in the back, and he checked. He said, unfortunately not, but I am happy to discount one of the dented ones if you want it. He was sooooo helpful and nice and customer service oriented and marked the originally £6 tin down to £2.50. My mother loves shortbread, anything royal and reusable tins, and since this one is only very slightly dented, it's a bargain. Yay M&S!  :D

Yay M&S! I love those moments, when you get helpful people AND a bargain! :)

Yesterday I hit a sale rack of $1 summer shirts, just tank tops and camisole tops. It was Walmart, but a bargain is a bargain, even if Walmart clothes don't hold up as well as other places. The true joy was there were still loads of REAL sizes on the rack. Usually by the time clothes hit that kid of sale, the only sizes left in women's clothes will actually only fit toddlers.

I have bought alot of clothes from Walmart from over the years an they are still going strong till this day Maybe I just got lucky with my clothes. I know what you mean about the sale though when that happens when I catch its usually is hideous looking colors or twig size clothes left so well done you on your summer bargains. ;)  ;D

I suppose I should have modified that statement. Some things I have bought have held up and some haven't. I shouldn't base my thoughts of a store's clothes on some of the items. I am still pretty happy with my bargains though. :)

I applied in April for a job at a bookstore that's opening a few blocks from me. A couple of weeks ago I had an interview, and I didn't hear anything after they told me they would let me know in a few days, so I assumed I didn't get it. I just moved on.

Unexpectedly, I got an email on Thursday asking for me to come meet with them again and talk more about the job. So I went yesterday and talked more with them.

Got an email from them this evening that I got the job!  ;D All of this after having completely written the job off as not happening. Salary, benefits, everything. A vast improvement from my current job. I am so, so excited! I start in a couple of weeks!  :D

That is AWESOME. I would seriously love to work at a bookstore.

My unexpected pleasure has been loads of intimate time with my husband lately ;) Between the kids taking well to their new bedtime routine, my feeling better in general physically and mentally, and my Mama having them for THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS this weekend, I'm feeling pretty good. Just hope I don't get knocked up! That would either slow or greatly accelerate our moving schedule, lol.

Can be fun but just remember it is retail and you gotta face the Public everyday.  Loved being able to help people find stuff but then there were the prima donnas who expected you to drop everything and do whatever they demanded.  I hated those people who came in at Christmas time and purchased arm loads of books and then next day brought most of them back for return.    >:(

But still, I would probably feel excited if I were offered such a job again!  So good luck, NOT.

Thanks! I was an Assistant Manager at a bookstore a few years back, and loved it, so excited to get back into it!

I've worked in retail before and I quite liked it.  I've noticed most of the time people give you the attitude that than sense off you, so if you're genuinely helpful and chipper, that goes a long way towards having a good day.  I'm a, completely unintentionally, horrible customer when all the workers are looking or acting like that hate being there.  I've never had a nightmare customer in two years at Toys R Us and two more at Walgreen's.  I also like the madness of the holiday season :)

I bought a FitBit Ultra around this time last year and have loved using it. On Tuesday I noticed that the plastic was starting to crack at the top where it curves. I shot a quick email to the customer service team and heard back from them within 24 hours, requesting pics and a receipt. I sent the pics, but had no receipt as it was a gift. They offered to replace it free of charge with a new FitBit One, and I received it in the mail yesterday! How's that for quick and excellent customer service?   :D :D
