I've been looking for a dragonfly Christmas ornament since Christmas decorations first hit the stores this season. My sister loved dragonflies, and I wanted one in memory of her. Today I not only found a purple (her fave color) one, but it was on clearance for 37 cents.

One of our regular guests was passing out $20 to everyone this morning as belated Christmas gifts since he was off work over Christmas and the New Year. He is in  town on business at least twice a month for four days. Sweet guy,  and is like family to most of us.

Took a chance and washed a pair of polyester curtains with label saying "dry clean only" and they came out beautifully (except for the blobs of white paint DH got on them).  At least they're clean  :)

Hooray! Whenever I have something that says 'dry clean only',  especially if it is an item that only needs occasional washing, like curtains, I try to weigh up the cost of dry cleaning vs. buying new. If it would be less to buy new (if it all goes wrong) than to dry clean, I will wash it and hope for the best. I have yet to ruin anything, but I know there are items that just can't be washed.

I avoid dry cleaning anything like the plague, especially anythings big and bulky like curtains.  I did recently wash some M&S curtains that clearly said they were washable but they came out a mess -- all wrinkles that wouldn't even iron out.   >:(  So you never know.

So very true. You just never know what will wash and what won't.

Went to select my seat for upcoming Virgin flight.  Unless you wait until 14 days before flight, it costs $40 for an economy seat ($70 for extra leg room).  Yeah, another airline rip-off!  Anyway when I input my selection it came up with the price in $$ and as we wanted to pay in pounds and not go through all the conversion rates, etc, we got onto the Help person.  She said it was supposed to offer you a choice of currencies but it wasn't working.  So she booked me the seat free of charge!
Moral: it pays to ask for help  ;)

I stopped in to wash the car, and someone had put in more money than they needed, apparently, because there were still five minutes on the timer. My wash ended up being free.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] I hate paying the big bucks for the automatic wash, because the car gets dirty just as fast with those as it does with the $1.50 do it yourself wash. Our parking spot is under a tree, so we get frequent bird bombs. Paying $8-11 then getting pooed on is annoying.

Snow! Not the feet of snow they will be getting on the East Coast, but a gentle, beautiful, starting to cover the ground snow.It wasn't forecast, which makes it so much better.

Another snow UP! The forecast has changed and we are now in the band of 3-5 inches tomorrow with another inch tomorrow night. It had been looking like we were maybe going to get a dusting if anything, but apparently the system has shifted course a bit.

1. We met mom, dad and my nephew for dinner last night. When we got there, we had the added surprise of my brother, his fiancee, and one of her sons being there.

2. Because of our time frame for getting to dinner last night, we hurried to cash and deposit our checks and get on the road. When I took the time to look at my check stub today, I noticed a 50 cent raise!
