Very nice!! The horseradish sauce instead of mayo worked really well.

Deviled eggs rock, they are one of the best things I like indulge in with a low carb diet.  ;D

I was a Deviled Egg for Halloween!

I wore all white and had a big yellow circle pinned onto my stomach. I wore devil horns, had a devil's tail and carried a pitchfork.

My husband wore all black, a giant letter P on his stomach and I used black lipstick to paint a circle around his eye. He was a 'Black-Eyed Pea'.

Random, I know, but I just had to share!
Who ate all the pies?

What a interesting idea for a costume.

I missed this topic - been offline for a bit - but just wanted to chime in that a friend of mine puts chopped up water chestnuts in her devilled eggs and it's LOVELY - adds a nice bit of crunch without an overpowering amount of flavour. I think it may be from the good old Joy of Cooking!

And paprika - a really good quality smoked paprika if possible - over the top is an absolute must!

Mmmmmmm.

Okay, this is too bizarre. I'm visiting my niece and her family. She just had a baby and this will be my only chance to see them before I leave. So, whenever I come, I prepare dinner and a dessert that they wouldn't ordinarily fix for themselves. This time, I asked my niece's husband what he wanted. He said anything with shrimp. So I got out the River Road cookbook (a So. La. staple) and found Mushrrom and Shrimp casserole. I showed it to him and he said he liked all of the ingredients so go for it.

Layer bottom of casserole dish with canned sliced mushrooms (I used fresh and sauteed them in butter), then layer with....you guessed it....deviled eggs! Place raw shrimp on eggs then pour white sauce over the shrimp. Sprinkle with grated cheese, then bake.

We absolutely had to fix it because it was so weird! And, actually, it wasn't horrible. Each ingredient was really good. It was just that the different ingredients didn't mesh well together. Each bite of the casserole had a different, distinct taste. Not a total fiasco, just not one I'll repeat!

What we can't figure out is who came up with this recipe? I mean, how do you even think to put this particular combination of things together? Must have been a guy...you know, standing at the open fridge going, "Hmmm, yeah, leftover deviled eggs, mushrooms, shrimp....I'll just throw them in a dish and throw it in the oven....and, let's throw some leftover cheese sauce on top 'cause everything tastes better with a little cheese sauce on it!"  ;D

That sounds...ummm..interesting.  ;D My mom has the River Road Cookbook (that side of my family is from Baton Rouge) and it has some stuff that looks good in it but it does have some really bizarre stuff too. :P

Swap out the cheese for sour cream, and that could absolutely be something my husband would come up with.  After all, everything tastes good with sour cream on top. :-X

I will admit that over the past fifteen years he's managed to convince me.
