Am I the only person here who really doesn't care about getting food from the States? There is good food in the US, but equally good, though sometimes different, food here. I'd rather be trying new foods that you can't get in the US than eating the same foods that I've been eating all my life.

oh I thought we were playing a game like what food would you like if someone were to bring some from the states... ???

I can take it or leave it really ..I've survived 6 years without Captain Crunchberries..I've learned the pleasure of pork pies with warm applesauce ..yumm.

sheesh.
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I can definitely take it or leave it... whenever some kind soul offers to bring me back something from the states, I have so much trouble thinking of something that i want, and usually end up with Neosporin!  :-\\\\

I do like Triscuits, though... i wouldnt say i *miss* them... and im VERY glad we dont have them here, cos if we did i would be a three-ton tessie instead of just a 2-ton tessie.  But if i get a box once every couple of years, im happy with that.

 ;D

I started off in a semi serious manner, just curious what other people find it hard to go without. I am  a major foodie, being from that PA Dutch background and all.

sweetpeach If you'll look back in that first post I actually  said I don't really miss anything all that much as I am  too busy enjoying and exploring all the things here which we don't have in Florida!
But there are some things I enjoyed on a daily basis which I've had to "substitute" for and would not say no to if they were presented

Alicia...yum, pork pies!

otterpop...you had to go and mention the Triscuits! they're my fave w/sandwiches back home.

I don't really miss any particular food...but I think living in London helps that - I can get really amazing food here and so I don't miss anything.  Plus I was never wedded to a particular food while living in the States anyway.

not 'absolutely crave' but I wouldn't mind a hot fudge sundae on coffee ice cream once in a while. :)

Just curious if there is any food you are absolutely craving that you haven't been able to find over here?  Or "recreate" with available ingredients ;)

Right now I haven't got an answer, I am  still too busy trying all the new stuff I was never exposed to before!

Texas BBQ.  And Community New Orleans Blend coffee.

Heading to the States for the next two weeks -- and we're going to SATURATE ourselves with BOTH!  (And at least we can bring coffee back with us!)

Interesting to read all of the responses!

Captain Crunch with some Crunch berries ...I pick out the crunch berries ..yum.

Am I remembering these wrong or did those little berries have sharp edges that cut the roof of your mouth?  ???

I don't miss any particular food, either, although there are some things it would be nice to get without having to order online or go searching for particular upscale supermarkets to find. I miss those little cans of chopped green chilies that used to be a pantry staple in my house. I miss gigantic jars of pre-minced garlic like I used to get at Walmart. (The kind in a tube is good, though). I miss White Lily self-rising flour and Aunt Jemima yellow cornmeal mix. You might be able to find these things, but I never have seen them anywhere around here. I miss those frozen pie shells in the little disposable pie tins. I miss cinnamon graham crackers. I miss saltines, sometimes. Mostly it's just former pantry staples that are no longer part of my cooking anymore...

Nope- them's the ones. . . Death by bleeding secondary to cereal ingestion. It's a hazard, to be sure.
