What food do you miss most from the States?
« on: December 24, 2005, 12:53:09 PM »
Just curious if there is any food you are absolutely craving that you haven't been able to find over here?  Or "recreate" with available ingredients ;)

Right now I haven't got an answer, I am  still too busy trying all the new stuff I was never exposed to before!

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches. I can never replicate the flavour of the boardwalk taste.  :)

Definitely miss a proper Italian coldcut! Subway, whether in the US or over here just doesn't cut it for me.

Also, I miss a fresh shrimp salad sandwich, crab soup, crab cakes. Basically miss having seafood readily available at my whim when I want it.  Also a good chinese food that its loaded with MSG....I prefer fresh.

This is way too hard, there is too much that I miss ;D  But tomorrow I will get to fix that.  (Maybe Monday, I get in at 9pm)

I think really good bagels, I miss those.  Hot dogs from my Deli. And there is a sandwich place in Cambridge, MA that does the most amazing sandwiches.  I can't for the life of me remember the name.  I need to call a few friends to figure it out.  Oh yeah and Pizza at any of the places in NYC!!!

Oh yes! While Sainsburys is the closest I have found I really miss a fresh warm bagel! I also miss a good corned beef sandwich with a deli pickle!  ;)

I miss those little hole in the wall mexican food places.......on my days off work, I had a routine, I would wake up, have my coffee, get dressed, go for breakfast at one of those little mexican food places, read my book, and chill out and eat great food, then go out and do my errands, which included thrift shopping just for the fun.....stop at 7/11, get a big gulp. Dr. Pepper, of course....which would carry me throughout the rest of my day.....God, I miss that.
