So much rubbish is getting dumped along my street. Usually its McDonalds and KFC wrappers and empty bottles and cans. This morning it was piles of leaflets for some power-washing company. Looks like they hired someone to distribute them and they just checked them out the window as they drove down the street.

Our front garden is treated like that - but we live on one of the high streets here (part residential, part businesses).  So yep - it's just toss yer cig butts, takeaway papers & cartons, candy wrappers, miscellaneous rubbish, etc in the line of front gardens for our group of terraces as they walk along. :-\\\\

My BBC news feed page is in Arabic or something.  Can't get it back to English!!!  Even old links from FB of articles are now coming up in Arabic.  Wtf?

We have this same problem.  We have a brick wall that's about 6 foot tall and a bus stop right on the other side.  How convenient for us to just throw our beer bottles, crisps bags or other miscellaneous trash over this wall into this person's (my) yard.  DH caught someone doing it once and yelled at him to come pick the bottle up or he would throw it back to him.  The guy apologized and said "Oh I didn't realize you lived here".  Like it should make a difference who lives here or something.  The really bad part about the whole thing is that there are one of those rubbish bins on the pole of the bus stop...which is literally right beside the wall.  It actually takes more effort to throw the trash over the wall than into the bin.

Just above "services" there is a selection of languages that the website can appear in. No idea what it looks like in Arabic, but it's near the bottom of the page! Good luck!

Ah, but is it as fun?

I live in a terrace in the sticks, mind you - no high street or anything like that, and we are forever picking up crap.  it had been MY EXPERIENCE that people here are bigger litterers than anywhere else I've lived, NYC included.

a nasty thunderstorm woke me up around 1:30, then I woke up again to use the loo around 6 and never got back to sleep so I'm very tired.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

My bus stop is right in front of a fairly upmarket garden center. It doesn't help that they have given up on pruning the trees (which they planted) or weeding the mulch they put down. But now we are nearly ankle deep in garbage strewn about by bus passengers who probably buy the crap across the street at the Hess gas station, then stand there munching and swigging and then toss it on the ground when the bus comes. Not to mention the fag ends. No rubbish bins, of course. Too much of an eye sore in this salubrious neighbourhood.

MrsRobinson: I was going to suggest putting a rubish bin next to the wall but that hasn't helped I(p)W so I doubt it'll help you :o(

Nah, I don't really think it would, plus the council would probably come & take it away (or someone else would).  Passersby can't manage to chuck stuff in the bins when we have them out overnight before the morning on which they are collected.  :P

Unlike IPW's, the wall between our garden & the pavement is approx waist high - and to be fair, sometimes I think they have littered on the street & then the wind blows the stuff into the gardens along here (not that that's any better, but just saying maybe they weren't actually aiming for the garden - lol).

IMO, there is a population density & location element to it all (probably plus lack of public/council bins to some extent), as well as lots of takeaways & shops in the general vicinity.  We were up in the rural wilds of Northumberland last week - where there are hardly any people by comparison & town centres are few & far between, and things were much cleaner up there.  Lol!

My BIL was submitted to the hospital last night as he has something blocking the valve to his heart.  He may need a stint put in and DH is away and MIL and SIL are carless and don't drive so I will be quite busy.

I do hope it all turns out ok

Bummer JennBean.

My mom won't go to bed.  I just want to watch my television program alone in peace without listening to someone swish water in their mouth or loudly crunch on crisps.  I was really looking forward to this program too.  >:(
