Oh man, that's not good. I hope you can be seen straight away, otherwise, A&E is definitely your best bet. Otherwise, you're going to end up with a worse infection and worse problems.
Thanks, everyone. I called NHS Direct this morning and they said I definitely had to get in somewhere today, even if it was the infirmary or hospital.

(Since I didn't do anything about it yesterday, I woke up with big red streaks again

.) Fortunately, when I called my GP's office and told them what NHS Direct said, they were able to fit me in for a quickie appt with my GP, who I really like. She's given me some super dooper antibiotics (some sort of penicillin) and wants me to keep taking the other ones at the same time. Hopefully that will do the trick, and if no improvement by next week, then I will need to see her again. So, fingers crossed. Since I don't like taking prescription painkillers (they make me very naseous), under my GP's advice I'm now alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen every 2 hours, which is helping with the pain a bit. Thanks for all the well wishes.
Jenn, hope your BIL is going to be okay. (((HUGS)))
