Aww MLG, I think if I were you I'd want to end up in hopsital as well.  Feel better.

Thanks.

Hope it goes smoothly for you. Do you have insurance on which you can claim?

Yeah, I have contents insurance (since I rent) - hopefully that falls under the "contents" even though it has to be kept outside.   :-\\\\

 >:( >:( >:(

Still feeling like %$^& but better than yesterday. Nice GP is not back until 20th September  :o :o :o so made no appointment. I am at the point where  am thinking to ask for unpaid leave. And almost hoping I go into hospital next week, and not just for tests. I am being driven slowly insane by just not getting better.  :-\\\\ :-\\\\ :-\\\\

Awwww!  :\\\'( I hate that you are still unwell! I'm going in now for another aspiration, but if this doesn't work, I'm going to ask for surgery.  :-\\\\

As you can see, hubs and I are banging our heads against the wall trying to get some help here. I have been on the phone to the Job Centre 10 times today and they signed me on for an appointment, which I thought was for some kind of emergency aid, and it turned out it was for job search. Hello?! I had two interviews last week and I have three this week. I don't need help learning how to search for a job, I need help to pay rent (which is already two weeks late) until I get another job. Thanks for nothing!  ::)

I'm sure I read on the moneysavingexpert.com site that rent (LHA) is dealt with by your council and job seekers from the DWP and that although the council like JSA to be sorted out first, you can go straight to the council to ask them to start your LHA claim based on low income. Someone on that site said if the two claims had to be linkled (3 claims counting countil tax benefit) and they had to wait for JSA to be sorted, then there would be no need for the council benefit section at the council. The DWP are struggling with all the new claims for JSA, so there will be a much longer wait than normal. Perhaps go to the moneysavingexpert.com site and ask on the benefits board, so you can go to the council armed with the correct information for rent help?

I think they also said on that board that the LHA benefit is paid 4 weeks in arrears, so you might want to have a word with your landlord if that is true, so that he doesn't issue you with a Section 8 notice.

I'm sorry you're still not feeling well, too Jewlz.  :(

Mine is that I am coming down with a cold and am feeling tired and dehydrated.

Another one is a few days ago a customer in my shop held up two chick-lit books by two different authors and asked if I'd read either.  I said no, and she replied, "Oh, you don't read.  You're not a reader."

If I was a less tolerant person I would have been *really* offended (instead of mildly offended), and I said, "No, I actually read *a lot*.  I just don't read chick-lit."  (not that I think there's anything wrong with it, it's just not my kinda thing.)

PB- I know you're not in the States, but just thought I'd share. I had my car broken into while in NYC this summer. THe car insurance covered the damage and my renter's insurance covered my items (iPod, etc) that were stolen from inside the car. The theory was basically they would be covered if I were inside my house, I guess. I have car/renters with the same company, though, so I don't know if that made a difference. Good luck!

And good luck to getting answers MLG and Jewlz!

Andee- What did she even mean? She didn't know you personally, did she? I would have probably given her a WTF look and asked her what other fun facts she could share about me TO me?!

Ha!  I guess since I was unfamiliar with two chick-lit authors, in her small world of books that meant I didn't read much.  She'd probably struggle to keep up with the amount I read and what I read as well (If I do say so myself.  :D )

I have a cold, which means bad post nasal drip. Which means I woke up over an hour before I had to. Oh well, at least I'm having a nice cuppa and some chocolate digestives (which I paid thru the nose for but sooo worth it!).

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I haven't seen any in my flat, so perhaps my cat is doing something useful with his day.

My IA: This project I have for work is hopelessly convoluted and I'm making little progress. :(

Ugh!  HATE THEM!  We had them in our current flat when we moved in.   >:(  I was seriously unamused to see one scamper across the kitchen floor the first morning we were here.  Luckily, our fat cat took care of them pretty quickly.  I was shocked -- didn't think he had it in him.   :P

Uggh that is soooooooooooooo annoying.  Unfortuately, there are loads of people in the world who don't read unless they have to.   :-\\\\ I personally devour books, reading whenever I can.  I love being able to get lost in my own images of what's happening, the excitement of finding out what happens next, or just to feed my insatiable curiousity.   Love it, love it, love it!

Thanks GGTL, I will check out my policy when I get home.  At least the two police officers who came to take my statement were really lovely.  And Hee, hehe, love it- still a small community, here- when two officers came to take my statement within 30 minutes of my call- about a stolen bike, of all things. So that was really lovely!  :)

We have the little blighters also -- AND a cat who tries but must be getting old. I am so tired to finding their little "calling cards" all over the kitchen. I swab everything down with bleach (I think the smell does deter them aside from disinfecting -- but not fond of the smell myself!)
What I hated in London were the rats (never inside though, thank goodness  :o)
