Personally, I consider myself a Ms., even though I'm unmarried.  I'm not sure that I'd address anything to a female over the age of 16 as "Miss" unless I knew specifically that she preferred it.  My default it Ms. for almost all adult females, unless I know that they are married and prefer Mrs., unmarried and prefer Miss or are old enough to possibly get offended by Ms.  To me, Miss is similar to "Master" for boys, it's for little girls.
Personally I do not use any "titles" at all if I can help it. I would just write "Dear Mary Smith" or "Dear John Jones." I discovered it's a Quaker practice, although I had been tending that way before I learned that.
When I married and moved to the UK, I was going to keep my "real" name but got so much hassle from the bank and so on that I had to relent. But that was over 30 years ago, for Pete's sake.

I've had my Kindle 4 whole days and it has a couple of scratches on the screen. :( I've been super protective of it, so I have no idea how this happened.

Here's hoping Amazon customer support will be cool, I don't want to 1) have a blemished Kindle indefinitely 2) buy another one.

I bought a Kindle 2 a few months ago in February and in July, I accidentally leant on it with my hand and the top corner of the screen cracked (which meant that half the screen was constantly black and I couldn't read anything on it anymore). I called customer services and they arranged for me to send it back to them and to ship a brand new one out to me the next day at no cost to me - they even reimbursed the shipping cost for me to send the broken one back to the US (which was £45) :).

The only problem I had was that I'd ordered it while I was in the US and because it was shipped to a US address, they could only send the replacement to a US address. So I had to get it shipped to my aunt's house and then wait 2 months for my brother to bring it back home with him at the end of the summer when he finished his summer camp job (I didn't want to be charged customs duty if I had my aunt ship it over to me)!

I was pretty pleased with the new one though because it had a few new features that weren't on the one that I bought earlier this year (including a password feature when you turn it on/put it on standby and now I can get on the internet with it, whereas before I could only get on Wiki and Amazon).

ksand - glad to hear you had a good experience with customer service! I'll be calling them tomorrow and hope they'll be cool. (Perhaps if they'd mailed the case along with the Kindle, this wouldn't have happened. ;))

And bonus for getting your shipping costs refunded and spiffy new features! :)

I had absolutely no idea there was a tube strike today!  :( How did I miss that? Had I known, I would have gotten up earlier and would be out the door.
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

The Husband locked the PIN on his debit card this morning trying to log into online banking. He needed to put petrol in his car on the way to work so I had to give him my debit card to use because he won't be able to go unlock his card until lunchtime. I'm meeting my mil this morning for coffee and a bit of Christmas shopping. It won't be much of either without my debit card!  >:(

Let them eat cupcakes!

Officially Britishly since August 2013

Our monitor is on the blink (literally blinking on and off).  Can't write.  Crap on telly. About to find out if Farmville works on PS3s.

My work laptop just lost its hard drive.  I HATE Dell. This computer is about 6 months old and has been nothing but trouble. I have things backed up, but ARGHHHHH.

Sorry to hear about your holiday MeShell.
Hope everyone that has computer problems are able to get them sorted today and that all who are under the weather feel better soon.

My IA is that I'm still thinking about a snarky comment that my Mom made on the phone last night.
