"Don't speak evil of someone if you don't know for certain, and if you do know, ask yourself why am I telling it?"
 Johann Kaspar Lavater
1741-1801, Theologian
"Mind is the Master power that molds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass,
Environment is but his looking glass."
-James Allen, "As a Man Thinketh"

I'll give you an exact definition.
When the happiness of another person
becomes as essential to yourself as your own,
then the state of love exists.
- Robert A. Heinlein,
"Stranger in a Strange Land"

For a long time it puzzled me how something so expensive, so leading edge,
could be so useless, and then it occurred to me that a computer is a stupid
machine with the ability to do incredibly smart things, while computer programmers
are smart people with the ability to do incredibly stupid things.
They are, in short, a perfect match.

By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you’ll be happy.
If you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher
