Does anyone have any experience with Premium Economy on Virgin Airlines or any airlines for that matter??  I am booking flights soon and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

I have flown Premium Economy on United. It is just like economy with a bit more room. No special treatment, but that extra space makes a lot of difference. Just curious, are you booking it with miles or can you actually pay for it on Virgin?

It is just like economy with a bit more room.

Which makes ALL the difference in the world; 'specially for us tall folk.

i was upgraded to premium economy on virgin last christmas.  same food, same level of service, same in flight entertainment.  Larger seat.   One thing- you can't put up the armrests, which if you're travelling with a partner or young child is mildly annoying.  You do get a pre-flight drink and can board earlier.  I've never looked into what it woudl cost to actually purchase this ticket- if it's not too too much different than steerage, and it was a night flight I'd go for it.
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I am 6ft tall and 27 weeks pregnant, so extra space would be so nice.

Again, if you can, do it.  I think it certainly beats racing to get to the airport hours ahead to hopefully get the emergency row, which I've not always lucked out on, and it SUCKS... but I also always fly long-haul; so sitting in economy is a killer for me.

The seats are wider AND tons more leg room, only 2 seats in a row instead of 3; it's a smaller section of the plane, so more room to get up and stretch your legs (and overhead storage)... and as mentioned, earlier boarding and pre-flight drink, which is a nice touch, but I've also found the service to be slightly better than in economy.  PLUS - year before last, on my way home, I got bumped up from Premium Economy to Upper Class  ;D (that wasn't the plane with the beds, but still... sweet!).

I'd say treat yourself, at least once, and see for yourself.
I grew up racing to check in for the Emergency Row seats; when I would ask my dad why we didn't just fly business or first class (yes, I was an ignorant, spoiled kid), he would ask "well, would you like to do that, or would you rather we save that money, and then we can spend it when we get to wherever we're going?"
So, when he put it like that...  made sitting in economy a LOT easier.  And my dad is 6'6"!

Definitely worth it, especially being tall and preggers. I would like to think that they would just give it to you, actually. But the only way to know that is by waiting to get to the airport, I suppose.

we always fly virgin premium economy for extra room with the kids. also has priority check-in, and your bags are tagged to come out first with upper class.  if you have miles, it is a real value at only 50K. the servicd is definitely a notch above cattle. also, if you are travelling alone, you are likely to get upgraded to upper class if the flight is full. happens to my husband every time. definitely worth it.

BA WT+ (World Traveller Plus) is better than Virgin Premium Economy, but then again I am biased.   :)

IMO, the seat is more comortable on BA than on Virgin.

Seriously, I cannot imagine you sustaining any time in flight sitting in Economy.
And, I'm biased as well, to Virgin.  Though their Economy seats seem a bit closer together than other airlines, that's my only complaint.  Their service, food, cleanliness, friendliness, you name it, I have NEVER experienced on any other airline.

Except British Caledonian...loooooooooong ago.

Anyway, just go for it... and let me/us know what you think!

(and no harm done if you act a bit more uncomfortable than what you already are, and ask ever so sweetly at check in, if there's any chance at all of being first on the list if they choose to bump anyone up...? ;) )
