I posted about going to Mexifresh a looooooong while back! Well I've just been again and the food is still as gorgeous as ever. Their food tastes like authentic Cali-mex to me, it reminds me of the food that's served in places like Baja Fresh and La Salsa.

I had their "Americana Burrito" with steak. It was pure heaven in a tortilla and "it's huge" just like it says on the menu. I also had a bite of their "Gringo Style Taco"  with steak (you can have your tacos made with either soft flour tortillas or with corn tortillas).

Has anyone been to Mexifresh and what did you think of their food? They currently have branches in East Sheen (near Richmond) and in Wimbledon so check them out! You can peruse their menu on their website.

Other places you may not know about in London that serve good Mexican food include:

Daddy Donkey - In Leather Lane Market. Perfect for office workers craving a lunchtime burrito in the City of London.

Mestizo - Fabulous and authentic Mexican food that's a mere 7-10 minutes walk from Warren Street Tube.

Taqueria -  The Cool Chile Company's answer to the, yep you guessed it....Taqueria! In hip and happening Notting Hill.

Have any Mexican food lovers been to any of the above places? Thoughts and opinions please!!  ;D

I have been to Taqueria before, it was pretty good.  The food reminded me of Mexico City style.  Best corn tortillas I have had while in England, due to their imported Tortilla machine.

Yes!! You should definitely check Mexifresh out when you're in London!!

One thing though, Mexifresh is mainly a home delivery/takeaway restaurant. The branch in East Sheen (which is directly opposite Mortlake British Rail Station, Mortlake station is only two stops from Richmond BR/Tube) does have some seating, but the Wimbledon branch is delivery only I believe!

When are you coming down to London? Whaddya think you'll have from their their menu?  :P

Being Mexican, I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this topic. And after 5 months here I have YET to find decent mexican food. Most of what I've had here is god-awful.  I haven't tried the places mentioned above but looking forward to it, especially Mestizo!

Doubt we'll make it there Saturday, but if we do I'm either going for the gringo tacos or one of the salads.

My husband & I went to Taqueria yesterday for my birthday.  We were in London for the day and I've been wanting to try this place ever since I discovered Cool Chile Company web site ages ago.  It did not dissapoint.  Like others have said, it is Mexican... not Tex-Mex...
The food was fantastic and could be stiff competition for one of my favorite Mexican restaurants back in Texas.

I had a tamale... in England... and it was AMAZING! :)  They also served tomatillo salsa that was to die for!

We stuffed ourselves, bough tortillas/mole poblano paste/black bean kit to take home, chucked in a tip and it still came to under 30 pounds.

We will definitely be back.  The takeaway menu and lunchtime menu look even more affordable.

We also found another Mexican place that has been getting good reviews called Crazy Homies.  It is in the same area as Taqueria.  We walked by and had a look at the menu.  It looked good and the prices seemed quite resonable, but it wasn't open until 6pm.  The reviews I've read say that the portions are generous.  The only downside I read on reviews is that the place is TINY and it can be hard to get a table.  And right next to Crazy Homies is a place called Lucky 7 -- it is supposed to be an American style diner/burger joint.  They are both owned by the same restauranteur.  We will have to try them out next time we are in London.

I am a Mexican newbie to UK!... well, will be pretty soon. These posts gives me ONE more reason not to worry about me moving to England. It seems that there is a variety of Mexican food over there! tortillas? mole? green sauce!  wow!

Being in Texas for six years has made me acquire a taste for tex-mex. I just imagine in UK I would go for anything spicy/mexican!

I assume all these restaurants are in the London area, but what about the rest of UK?

Oh would you please open a decent Mexican food cafe here? In fact could you open a chain of them across the UK? I have yet to find decent Mexican food here! Most of what I have had here is god-awful too!

oh, please don't get your hopes up too high! The supermarkets carry Old El Paso and Discovery brand Mexican food stuff. I won't try it because it will just burst my bubble and confirm that "Mexican" food here truly doesn't exist. Plus, sour cream in a jar just seems ridiculous.

As for Tex-Mex, yeah you will find restuarants here and there claiming that but it certainly isn't any Tex-Mex or Cal-Mex I've heard of! I have a Tex-Mex place on my high street I haven't tried but perused the menu nothing mouthwatering.

I just cook my own jklm-Mex!  ;)
