i will try toasting it next time....

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Do not put malt loaf in the toaster!!!

OK, it does taste delicious, but MeShell's description of it as "toffee" is right on the money! After having my toaster catch fire and then become absolutely STUCK with toffee-like goo, I've had to order a new one. It was a nice excuse to buy a fancy retro-style 4-slice new toaster, mind you! ;)

Anyway, next time I'll put my malt loaf under the grill. And, yes, it was so yummy that there definitely will be a next time. ;D

I don't think it was the setting that was the problem! It was that it got STUCK in there!!!!

But, yes, incredibly yummy!! Still ... I'm sticking to the grill from now on.

I tried this today. I enjoyed it just fine but its not something I would have on a regular basis. I think I was put off by its gooey-ness.

This whole thread has got me so curious, can you get the stuff at any store? I've just gotta try it, as I'm a HUGE toast buttered toast lover, and love ooey gooey melty buttery anything!

You can get it at Tesco, ASDA and Morrisons so I guess you can get it anywhere. Its in a small yellow pack. I think someone posted a pic on here.

In our store, it was near the packaged (not bakery section) breads, crumpets, scones, etc.

I was eyeballing it (the malt loaf) in Morrisons this morning, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it -- I had the sinking feeling that it is loaded with sugar, is it?  It sounds heavenly but I have to spread my sugary treats out -- and chocolate is just too good! :-\\\\
