I don't know if this has been posted, but there's a new shop in Leicester's city centre at Highcross called Americandy. I read in the paper it's only temporary and to get there before the end of January. Stopped in and bought some things, the guy was really nice and asked if there was anything he didn't have that I wanted, they're looking for suggestions for new items.

For those in the Cambridge-ish area, Wallis and Sons has a forecourt with American foods.

They have a lot of candy, Kool-Aid, soda (vanilla coke, cream soda), kosher dill pickles, grandmas molasses, flaked coconut and a variety of pop-tarts, cereals, cake mixes, Jiffy corn bread and other things.

Some of it was really pricey, other things seemed more reasonable.

While we were there three other Americans came in.

I've been using honey mustard salad dressing as it's the only thing I can find isn't too bad. Back home I loved the raspberry kind from kraft.

Hi there!! I am new to this forum!! Even though I am a British girl born and bred, I love everything American and I eat, sleep, drink, breathe and LIVE America and I have lived over there on a few occasions and untill his death in April of this year, I was actually married to a Mexican/American!!!

Anyway, whenever I am over in the USA i soon become addicted to Little Debbie Nutty Bars!! They are totally HEAVEN to me and they go so well with tea and coffee!! The only thing is I just cant get them at all over here, not even on all the USA online import stores!! A few freinds of mine in the USA send me over "care packages" which include Little Debbie Nutty Bars, but now, due to all the extra security and import checks at Customs they usually arrive to me somewhat crushed!!

Does ANYONE on here know where I can find these online??? You can either contact me on here by pm or message!

I would be eternally grateful if I could get these again as I miss them so much!!

Thanks!!! ;D ;D ;D

Try eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Little-Debbie-Nutty-Bars-12-Bars-/120641919821?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item1c16d19b4d

I've never seen them in shops and you can get them on eBay..for a price of course.

Check your morrisons or tesco. reese's peanut butter cups are pretty widely available and I know both these places sell them here as well as a lot of small corner shops or ethnic food stores.

I've never seen them in the area I'll be living in, unless I completely missed it =/

This might sound silly but try TopShop (clothing store) for Reese's peanut butter cups. They used to do a small range of US sweets, including these, not sure if they still do.

Hi all,

I won't be moving to the London area for at least 2 years, but I am on a pretty specialized diet and need help finding some things before I make the move.

I had gastric bypass surgery in December 2010 and there are a few main staples in my diet that I have to seek and find!

1.  Protein powder.  I currently use 100% Whey (Muscle Milk makes it) from Costco and for vanilla and unflavored, I use Isopure (which I buy through Amazon b/c the vitamin stores here charge an arm and a leg....$50 for a 3 pound tub!).

2.  Sugar free Torani (or even Da Vinci or anything like it) syrups.  I have found a few small bottles locally at WalMart (I'm still in the US), but I order the large 750mL bottles from Amazon as well.

3.  Low carb baking mixes such as Atkins or CarbQuick (which again, I find on Amazon)

4.  Baking supplies such as unsweetened chocolate (powder and bars), baking powder and soda, etc.

5.  DP "MUST" have habenero sauces as well as Chulua (sp), etc.  I regularly use Herdez Salsa Verde in my cooking (tomatillo based).  My mother did give me a recipe for tomatillo sauce, which I use for my chicken/Mexican based dishes, if Herdez isn't available over there.

6.  K-cups for the Keurig coffee brewer....is this available in the UK yet???  Mine came from Costco last year!

7.  Big, big thing.....Splenda and Stevia.  Please tell me they are available...?  I don't use the pink or blue packets at all!!

Any of this stuff readily available in UK stores?  Will I have to ship out massive quantities?  What's the climate like for a bariatric foodie like myself?

TIA!!!

Here is a link for a low carb on line store.  They supply a lot of Atkins and other sugar free items.

I think you should be able to find the whey products at Holland and Barrett.

I have found tomatillos at Wholefoods and I think you can order them online from MexGrocer.com, as well as the Cholulu sauces.

Baking powder and soda are available here in any grocery store.

Hope that helps!

Thank you SO much!!  I know the Whole Foods here in the US carry their own brand of whey and soy protein powders, but it's $20 for a 2 pound can and it's only 16g of protein per serving.  My stuff now has 27g...I also need to think about how to go about finding a bariatric surgeon in London to take over my annual post-op visits.  Hopefully I won't need the endocrinologist for PCOS or the rheumatologist by then!!

Do the regular stores over there carry proteins (wondering about ASDA since WallyWorld here does carry some)?

Unfortunately, it seems the Atkins baking mix I bought here for $7.99 (2 lb bag) is about twice that much in the UK.  May have to come up with other ideas.  Luckily I *can* cook ;)

all I can think about are White Cheddar Cheez-It's and Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies and toasted ravioli and those big boxes of frozen taquitos and massive jugs of Pace picante sauce you could buy at Sam's Club/Costco...

Pepperidge Farm Milanos and Brussels cookies, queso fresco, real Campbell's chicken noodle soup and Nabisco saltine crackers when I'm sick.

Gates BBQ sauce, candy corn, Dixie pie, biscuits and sausage gravy, IHOP nutty pancakes!!!

Feeling very melancholy about my food today!  :( :(
