"average" amount of time apart?
« on: May 18, 2006, 11:54:13 AM »
I apologize if I have asked this before... but what is your "average" length of time apart per separation from your partner when you have to be in your home country and he/she in theirs?

2 months shortest time apart, 4 months longest time apart.  We speak on the phone daily for at least an hour though.

They have all been 3 months...except the first one which was 2 months, but after July we have no idea how long it will be...thats all dependent on how long they take to give me my visa, which so far has been a real hassle.

it will be at least 4-5 months for us and that's IF everything comes together financially to allow the visit trip  :(

we email about 3-4 times a week...they are getting longer and deeper

and we usually talk once a week for about 2 hrs, some weeks we add in the SightSpeed video call

I miss him. I thought knowing we were planning to see each other again this autumn would help. Instead it has made things worse.
I want to go NOW!

After we'd met in person, our shortest separation was about 3 months....the longest was 9 months.

We saw each other about 3 months into his move and then I moved over 2 1/2 months later.  I'd say we were pretty lucky.

When we could afford to.  This meant we went a year without really seeing each other (although we were only dating for about half of it and just friends the first half).  Lately, it's been once every 3 months.

Are you two "together" then?  I'm glad you seem very happy :)

Wow, I have to count.

April - August 2005 - 4 months apart

August - December 2005 - 5 months apart

January - April 2006 - 3 months apart

April - July - 3 months apart... still have just over six weeks until I get there for good.  This one has been the worst so far.  We're ready to be living in the same place now.

Its usually about 6-8 weeks apart at this point. Next year I think it will be more like 3 months at a time (not liking to think about then!)

72 days was the longest we spent apart.  It was horrible.  There have been a few smaller breaks as well, but when DH and I were dating I was a college student and I had someone very wonderful in my life who bankrolled my visits so as long as classes allowed, I was here.

Well, it was probably about 6 weeks, but now we'll be apart for about 10 weeks as of Monday when I fly over to have the baby.  He'll come out in join me at the beginning of August for the birth, but it will be VERY tough being there and preganant without him :(:(:(
