MeShell, I'm happy that you are getting what you want. Good luck with it! But, I agree with SillySnip, I wouldn't have thought that you would qualify. And yes, Ricki, I agree, MeShell is beautiful just the way she is now!

Wow MeShell, I am happy for you that this makes you so happy. But I have to honestly say, after having met you last November, I am stunned you qualify for this?? I am not just being nice either lol but you don't appear to me to have enough to lose to be a candidate!  ???

I must hide it well. ::)..I weighed yesterday at the GP's office and I weigh 17 stone.... :o and with my height and weight my BMI factor is 42.2 which means I am morbidly obese..even typing it out it is embarrassing!!! I have tried everything else and have not gotten anywhere close to being at a healthy weight. I have starting developing comorbidities, low back pain from the weight in my stomach and sleep apnea...I snore horrendously as well.....I wake up tired and headachy..which could mean a lack of oxygen while I sleep, I have no energy to do anything..

So while I sincerely thank you all for the compliments...I'm still getting it done :P

It isn't for vanity sake...my dad died of a massive heart attack and he was never heavy in his life, my mom has diabetes and she was heavy all her life....so with my family history I have to get the weight off now before I get older and things develop that I could have prevented by losing weight....I have been struggling for over 17 yrs now..I'm tired of pills...diet shakes...WW...

So while my gp said there wasn't any funding for me to have a bypass done here she would provide all the test necessary to get it done privately.

Will keep you updated and when I go I will make sure David logs in and tells you I am out of the OP and safe.. :D

Yes, you do hide it well, and I agree you are a lovely person inside and out! I wasn't trying to talk you out of it though. I am glad you got the approval to have this done if it will make you a happier, healthier person and keep you around that much longer!  :D Best of luck to you! My friend's mom had the surgery back in March and has since lost over 60 pounds and is doing very well. She is healthier and more active as a result, so it was also a good choice for her.

Best of luck to you. I think the fact that you have gone ahead with finding out what needed to be done is wonderful. I really hope this works well for you.

Hey MeShell,

Congratulations and good luck! I had GPS (or WLS) a year ago.  It's the best thing I ever did for myself! I live in the US (Minnesota) so I know things are done a little different over there. I hope everything goes well for you!

:)

My mother just had the surgery done in May and she is doing GREAT!!!  Just take care of yourself and follow all the dietry requirements afterwards and you will be fine.  I can give you my Mom's email addy if you want to ask her any questions (she is a nurse as well).  Pm me if you want some advice for someone who has been through it.

Thank you for all the encourgement!!!

The surgeon is back from his holidays tomorrow. So hopefully I will hear something from him tomorrow. Now that I have made the decision I just want it done and booked!

We went across to Manchester this past weekend and went to the Trafford Center and there were LOADS of sales everywhere and I kept thinking next year...next year..
