Homemade bread.

I am going to try to make starter this coming week. Wish me luck because my starters always seem to kick the bucket after a few days.

I'm thinking it's not so yummy now.  It was really nice straight from the oven, but it tastes sort of burnt / bitter--I'm guessing that's the baking soda, since I've tasted soda bread that was just like that before.  Any way to cut down on that burnt / bitter taste?  Or does it just come with the territory of soda bread?

I made a lamb, mint and pumpkin pie for dinner and a gingerbread/pumpkin mousse trifle for dessert.

My bil grows a lot of pumpkin. ;)

Wow, I've never had that sort of problem before, but I've never made soda bread either, so I don't know.   :-\\\\

I'm making banana walnut bread now, and DH just baked a butternut squash for soup.
