That's funny! Reminds me of the time when I baked a round cake, but then served myself a wedge and filled the gap with frosting to hide the missing piece!

I just claim it was all down to quality control. I have to make sure it tastes good before serving it to others.  ;D

Lemon Syrup Cake.  Had a sudden craving for a lemon cake last night so went to the village shop and bought some lemons - it's just divine (especially when it's warm)!

Chocolate chip cookie bars. DH was complaining that we're out of treaties to have with tea, so I told him I was going to make chocolate chip cookies. He asked me how. Uh...with flour, sugar, etc!  :P

I *baked* choc chip cookies the other day, but I cheated... using that block of ready-made dough you can get in Sainsburys.  They were really good, though!
Prior to that, the last thing I baked was choc chip cookies using the Nestle Toll House recipe, and they were completely dire.

David Lebovitz has a FANTASTIC recipe for salted choc chip cookies. I mean seriously good if you want to make them not from a mix again :)

They're the crunchy but chewy kind. mmmmm cookies.

I use the Toll House recipe, but add one quarter cup of flour to every cup of flour in the recipe.  (Mrs. Robinson's tip on baking with flour in the UK and using US recipes).  Have you tried doing that?  They come out really good this way.

Banana bread - total disaster!  I've never had a cake not rise before but this looks like a roofing tile :o  Anyway the kids are still eating it so it can't taste too bad!!

Iggle Piggle cake for podge's first birthday couple weeks ago.  Cute little rectangular victoria sponge with jam and cream between the two layers, and hubby decorated the top with a blue frosted Iggle Piggle.  Very cute, although it didn't taste amazing.   :P
