Everybody is in such high spirits! This is
definitely the Friday before a bank holiday weekend! Yay!
5. I've heard we've a new colleague starting in a couple of weeks, and he's an American. Please, please God, don't let him be one of *those* types of American!
I laughed HARD at this. I know exactly what you mean.
I know that feeling as well.
...
We just don't talk about politics and I doublecheck all of his decisions because anyone who votes Trump can't really be trusted with picking a pub either....
hahahaha this is excellent! I'm glad it's not just me that dreads *those* types of Americans!
Yes! There was one of *those* types of Americans in the village my husband lived in when I first came over here. Jean. She was from Texas, y'all! Nothing wrong with that (I was born in Texas!), except she was one of *those* types of Americans and from Texas. I heard sooo much about her long before I met her. But when she finally was in the same place I was, it was easy to pick out which one was her in a room full of strangers.
4. We LOVE the outdoor fire oven thing at our villa and I’ve been questioning JF on her Uuni all week. Our food tastes amazing with a light smokiness. Funny how cooking isn’t a chore on holiday but a pleasurable experience.

Just to be clear, the Uuni is much
much smaller. Even the Pro, which is the big one. But it's portable. We put ours away in the shed after it cools down, because we haven't built our outdoor cooking pavilion yet.
Cooking on holiday is pleasurable because you don't have to squeeze it in between the normal routine of work and housework, so you can take time to make delicious food and really enjoy the experience of preparing and eating food. Just wait 'til you retire! Food becomes amazing!
My five (finally!):
1. The forecast is slightly iffy (possibility of thundershowers and grey and humid weather) this weekend, but I'm making some dough for pizzas. It could happen. Or I will freeze the dough and we'll have it when the weather is more cooperative.
2. My husband opened his bank statement that came in yesterday's post and said, "They're so short now..." because he's no longer commuting to Salisbury every week, and paying for a billion things like petrol, food, campsite fees, bridge tolls... His entire statement fit on
one page!
3. After appreciating how short his statement was, my husband realized
he can switch to paperless!4. My husband and I both decided several years ago that after we each paid off some debts that we'd had, we would not live on credit anymore (apart from the mortgage because House is awesome). But my credit card offered me 0% interest on purchases through the end of the year. So I don't have to save up to buy a car. And my budget is now whatever I can afford to pay off by the end of the year, up to my credit limit of $10,500. We'll probably keep it under $2000, but knowing I can get free financing for 7 months has accelerated the car-buying process. And the lack of car is what's preventing me from applying for citizenship (my grandparents-in-law are paying my citizenship application fee!)... I want to do NDRS & JCAP, so I need a way to get to the appointment without my husband taking a day off from work (you know, b'cause he's not allowed to for another couple of months).
5. Tesco had the jalapeno and cheese crisps on offer this week. I bought two giant bags. I just ate half of one of the bags for breakfast. I'm sooo healthy. Yesterday's breakfast was a sensible homemade croissan'wich. Actually, I'm not sure which is less healthy. I'll just not worry about it.
