1.  Going in to work late today because we were at a wedding reception last night... a full-scale wedding reception on a Thursday night!   ???

2.  I'm moving teams at work.. from mortgage processing to completions.  The move was meant to happen in about 2 weeks time, but as I was leaving last night, the boss said a temp had suddenly quit and so I would be starting in completions tomorrow... and that's today!

3.  OH made me a cup of tea with almond milk instead of cows milk.  No likey.

4.  HOW DID IT GET TO BE AUGUST?!?!

5.  Got an Ikea shelf to assemble, and I might go along to see the new priest instituted at the church tomorrow... and that will be the extent of my weekend.  What about you?  :)
Almond milk in coffee... nope! I don't even like regular milk in coffee (And what's with everyone using skimmed or semi skimmed milk?). I only use double cream. If it is thinner than that, it's a no from me.

I know somebody else who was at a wedding last night (or might've even been Wednesday night now) and I was thinking "WOW! Scots really like to party on a weeknight!"  I would definitely be pulling either a WFH or a annual leave day today if I were in your position. I don't think I could hack it lol.

Thought the same about it being August! Somebody asked me when I was going on holiday and I said "August bank holiday..OH! It IS August!"

My, how time flies....

3.  OH made me a cup of tea with almond milk instead of cows milk.  No likey.

4.  HOW DID IT GET TO BE AUGUST?!?!

Almond milk... hmm.  I have amaretto in my coffee.  Any similarity in flavour?

Ohmigosh, I know!  August, already!  Ever since my husband started his new job and stopped commuting, time has been flying by!

My five:

1.  Not just "AUGUST?!?!", but also, "FRIDAY?!?!"  This week went so quickly.

2.  Wednesday was my day with the car.  I went shopping at the metroplex that is Cross Hands, which means a visit to B&M and to Aldi.  I was halfway through checking out at Aldi before I realized the guy at the register was chatting me up.  I know this is Wales and not England, but even so, he was unusually friendly and inquisitive about my life and my immediate activities.  Oh.  But, then again, maybe he just saw #3.

3.  In 2006, my sister said she wanted to get a pair of Heelys, so I looked them up and said, "Oh, those look fun!"  We got a pair to share, took turns trying, failing, and laughing at each other the first day, then she lost interest and I got to keep them.  I wore them every day for three years, until I got the wheels wet and the bearings seized up.  I was heartbroken.  But in 2014, my husband gave me a pair for my birthday.  Problem was, there was no place where we used to live where I could use them.  But on Wednesday, my fourth shopping day with our new-to-us car, I WORE MY HEELYS!  Oh, my gawd, it was so fun!  I rent a shopping trolley, and just glide around the shops, picking up the things I need.  Taking my purchases out to the car...?  Wheeeeeeeee!  I love my Heelys!

4.  One of my pass-the-parcel items made my husband laugh (it is intended to be funny).  I thought he would tell me it was a waste of my time and material, but he really liked it.  Again, he is so supportive of my "art".  This is (one of the many reasons) why I love him.

5.  It's the muthertrucking weekend, batches!  We'll be kicking things off with coffee (the tasty way) at precisely 6pm, so don't be late!

#3 cracks me up!

And no, almond milk tastes nothing like amaretto or almonds really.

Heely's! I have so many friends who broke legs with those. I'm glad you mastered it because they look like so much fun!

And my husband has really loved my pass the parcel items. I had to test one and it passed my kitty's approval as well!

1. Another week, still not back at work. Trying to be patient but the longer this drags out I feel the less likely it is they will let me come back. And.... After lying in an email yesterday, they've told me to come back on Monday while I was typing this five. I have very little faith they will work with me, hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

2. The last of the supplies needed for my pass the parcel items arrived, so it will be on its way to jfkimberly soon! (but not too soon, as I know she's still working on her additions too)

3. The neighbourhood cats really make this place feel homey. My husband has some that come up to him, and there are a couple that run from him but always run to me for a quick cuddle and then run off. It's adorable.

4. Making the most of being home so doing lots of cooking and organising. Looking forward to pulled pork in the instant pot this weekend!

5. Also putting together an IKEA shelf today, and doing bunches of laundry. The inlaws are visiting next weekend and we need to finish tidying.

I've never known anybody else who wore Heelys.  Some of my friends even made fun of me for being "too old, they're for children."  The most common refrain was "I didn't know they made those in adult sizes."  I didn't care, though.  They ARE fun.  I don't do anything fancy in them, though.  I just skate when the ground permits it (smooth, free of obstructions), and when I'm too lazy to walk.

I'm so conflicted!  I want the parcel to arrive yesterday, but I'm not ready to send it along yet!

This just made me laugh out loud..

1. In agreement that it's the MUTHERTRUCKING WEEKEND! How did this week fly by so quickly?! Oh, I know! Because work has been so stressful that there's just not been enough hours in the day.

2. Husband's friend is popping by this evening to catch up. She lives in Ireland now and tries to pop by when she's over here (as her parents don't live too far away). She is really lovely and everything but can be really self-centered. She will spend about an hour talking about herself and then she will ask you a question and you start to answer and she just clearly tunes out. She did it to me one of the last times we saw her and she later messaged me to apologise and said it wasn't her intentionally trying to be rude, she was just exhausted because of her fibromyalgia....yet it didn't stop her from talking so much after the fact when I stopped responding because I could tell she was disinterested pretty much instantly. I now just take the apparoach of speak as little as possible, let her and my husband chat, and hope that she goes home sooner rather than later because I would feel it's rude for me to go make myself busy with other things while she was around but I get so BORED sitting there listening to her talk for HOURS with nothing I can add. I know that makes me sound horrible. She's also the type to read one science magazine in passing and suddenly she's a scientist and she will talk to you like you wouldn't have heard about the things she's speaking about and that can get frustrating.

3. We got our very very last accommodation booked in for Japan (our hotel). We booked the King Terrace Suite at the Odaiba bay Hilton! It has a private balcony hot tub! After all the blunders with Airbnb, it worked out that it only cost us £100 (£97 to be exact, so actually less!) so I was able to just book it without worrying (too much) about the price tag overall. It will be a nice treat for us I think. All our cancelled bnbs were re-booked and we're good to go! Just down to booking tickets now for all the activities we need to get tickets in advance for (the exciting part!) and roughly planning itinerary to see what is and isn't achievable. It's starting to take shape and I'm loving it.

4. Mirror for the bathroom was delivered yesterday. Probably will get it wired in and put on the wall and the bathroom will be completely done! YAYYY. Will just need to paint the toilet space and work on the loft and we can list our house. Husband is meeting with a mortgage  guy today and we will meet with our separate mortgage guy next week to get a rough idea of what we can borrow.

5. Irritatingly enough, it looks like somebody two doors down from us (with a much nicer looking garden - both front and back) may be selling as well as somebody with a camera went around there today as did a guy with a thick binder (they parked in front of ours while we're WFH, which is how we saw them). If they sell ours, we will probably end up needing to take less because we don't have as lush as a garden as they do (with all their lovely plants etc.) so theirs has more curb appeal than ours (and a nicer paved drive/nicer looking garage). We put more time into the inside than the outside. Got a valuation for our house yesterday but now sure how that would change if somebody two doors down with nicer curb appeal lists. How rude are they?!!? :p

I do get almond milk in my Starbucks iced drinks but the barrista the other day told me their almond milk is the kind for hot beverages as well so shouldn't separate - if you're interested in having almond with hot drinks :)

Probably hard to feel optimistic like they will pleasantly surprise you after everything they've pulled.

LOL we have neighourhood cats that get into our garage through little cracks and they sit on the soft-top of my husbands car so the hair clings to the fabric and it drives him up a wall! But it makes me laugh :)

FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!

1.  My motivation level on a scale of 1 to 10 today at work is like a -3.  Bring on 5pm!

2.  I went shopping last night and bought the 4 year old a bikini on clearance for £2.  Showed my husband when I got home.  He is not impressed.  "What if this makes her like bikinis when she's older?"  Ummm...  I think reality is going to hit him hard in about 8 years or so!

3.  I think I've bought the last of the school uniforms needed for when school starts.  Just need shoes.  I need a second mortgage on my house for all this crap.  School bag (embroidered), PE bag (embroidered), PE kit, hat, cardigans, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, dresses, trousers, socks, tights, ties, this mess adds up QUICK.

4.  We have a couple of viewings at our rental property in the morning and need to do a bit of tidying of the garden for an open day next weekend.  Other than that, we have ZERO plans for the weekend.

5.  I've decided I want to start regular "date nights" with my kiddos.  I figure every month or so, I'll take my girl out just the two of us.  And as the boy gets older, same for him.  :)

I'm allergic to almonds now so it's not really an issue But it's good they have one made not to separate. I don't know *how* because homemade almond milk definitely does.

And I suppose if I had cat hair on my car I'd be annoyed. But these guys just walk over purring to get a couple pets and then continue on their adventures running around people's backyards or laying in the sun.

hahahaha about the bikini thing...he is in for a totally rude awakening.

The school uniform thing for some reason just makes me sad. Like that is one thing I don't like about school's here is that you HAVE to wear a uniform and I guess that's because I just always felt like your style was an expression of yourself and one of the small things that kids have control over in their lives. I understand why the uniforms exist and that it's not a negative thing (besides on your pockets), I just don't particularly prefer that way of doing things. Husband and I obviously differ on this.

Hope your viewings go well and you get lots of interest!!

The "date night" with your kids sounds like an awesome idea and a way to give each of your kids one-on-one attention. Might give you some peace of mind as well as I know you mentioned on one of the IA's that you felt bad about being a working mum.

It's tough.  I don't think uniforms are a bad thing.  I just think they don't need to be so complicated.  My 4 year old must wear a pointed collared blouse (not polo) with a tie!  What's wrong with jogging bottoms and a polo?  Let 4 year olds be 4 year olds.  Though I suspect she will look super adorable!

Having grown up at a tough inner-city (well....  okay, it was Clearwater not exactly rough) middle school full of diversity and then going to a high school that was associated with a country club and the mass majority of kids came from serious money - I definitely think uniforms are no bad thing.  Kids already feel a lot of pressure in high school.  Uniforms can help with "evening the score".  But I think starting in secondary school is the way to go.  Oh well.  Not my choice.  At least it'll make getting ready in the morning easy.
