It's the one recommended by yankybrit in the other threads. She's got the knowledge I need, and is priced reasonably. (still not cheap, but not the thousands of pounds others had tried to charge). I don't know how anyone manages their first self assessment with the split year treatment on their own. I tried the taxcalc software and was still swimming in legislation I didn't understand, and with the risk of getting it wrong including being refused future visas definitely needed a professional!

Baby boy had his allergy check today and sadly is still allergic to milk.  We really thought the allergy would be gone.

He’s not allergic to fish though, which we were suspicious of.   :)

1.  Had a doctor's appointment today to talk about sleep apnea.  I'm pretty sure I have it because Dave has been saying for a long time that I stop breathing or struggle to breathe during the night.  He had to wake me up a couple nights going a week or so ago because I was basically choking in my sleep.  I've had this issue for a long time (my ex brought it to my attention) but I've dragged my feet doing anything about it.  Off to get a blood test to check thyroid function on Monday so will be interested to see what comes of this.  Maybe there is a CPAP machine in my future yet.  But if I do have sleep apnea, I'm sure it's probably at least contributing to a whole host of other issues and is not helping with my ability to cope with stress, and now...

2.  ...at the same appointment, I've just been signed off for 2 weeks for work related stress.  Never in a million years did I think this would ever happen, but I'm going to run myself in the ground if management don't sort their sh*t out.  This has probably been a long time coming but one of the main things that's been keeping me going is not wanting to let "my employees" down.  But I just can't do it anymore.  I can't cope.  It's a long story and I'm happy to elaborate if people are interested but it didn't seem particularly appropriate for this thread.

3. High tea tomorrow at a friend's house!  I believe there will be some Americans coming along that I've not met before so I'm looking forward to it.

4. Dave and I are going to London on Sunday for a concert.  Looking forward to going back to Camden Market for some bomb ass food!

5.  Had my first driving lesson today in almost two months.  Driving instructor is pleased with the progress I've made through private practice and he thinks I'm ready to just push and get this done.  Maybe another block of lessons or so and I think I'll be well on my way.  Think I'll try and squeeze a few lessons in during the next couple of weeks that have suddenly been freed up for me.  And then when I get my license, the possibilities are endless in terms of where I can look for new jobs.

Morning....

1. Going to reading to a good pub for pizza tonight with friends. Not really in the mood to socialise but I'd feel really bad bailing....lose-lose lol

2. Still waiting on the visa. No word. Nothing. Still "unable to make a decision about me" clearly (hard not to take it personally even though I know it's not personal).

3. House down the road is back up for sale after it was auctioned off (needed to sell it due to elderly person living there going into care home). It's now back on the market at £25k lower than the already low previously accepted asking price. Woot. Glad we're putting in this kitchen because I think we'll probably end up stuck here for a while...

4. There is kindness still out there in the world. I'm doing my best to try to remember that.

5. Having stress both in work and at home is really making me realise how much I don't want to work where I do anymore. Once there's no longer stress outside of work (or as much), I'm sure I'll feel better, but it's just highlighting to me how miserable I am here now that I don't have much to escape from it so it's fuelling me to find a new job faster than I was previously.

Not an eventful 5 today, sorry. Had to think long and hard on the 5 I did put up...

1.  Sitting in the car on our way to the airport

2.  Hardly slept last night due to the baby waking a ton, husband coughing, and just general night before long haul.

3. Loooooooong day of travel ahead with two small kids.  Hoping no one booked the 4th seat in our row so the baby has a seat.  Let’s all keep our fingers crossed.

4.  Work week ended much better than expected.  I’m hopeful that I can stick it out another year or so.  At least into a post Brexit Britain.

5.  I wish Sobe was coming with us!

KoD, I'm so sad to read your five.  You sound so deflated compared to your normal self.  I wish there was something we could do for you.  But I know that the only thing that's going to fix this is your ILR coming through.  This situation sucks, and I'm really sorry.

PB, have fun with the STEM thing, the gardening, and the chicken-proofing, amd good luck with the championships.  How long 'til the competition?

KF!  Have a great trip!  Take lots of pictures of the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique experience, and, well, everything!    My fingers are crossed for that empty seat.

My five:

1. On Monday I had an asthma clinic and GP appointment which both went well (still in the respiratory medicine practice at the hospital next week).

2.  After my GP appointment, I stopped at the desk on my way out to ask for my personal records back from the US that the doctor assured me he just wanted to look over and would give right back... two years ago.  Learned they've been integrated into their records and they refused to even consider giving them back to me until I filled out a data request on myself, then said it would take time to copy... and I'm picturing them handling the 44 year old typing paper that is my post-surgical note, and freaking out.  I might have cried real tears.  I left saying I'd be back and they better take very good care of those documents because they're MINE and never should have ended up with them in the first place.  Things got ugly, but I phoned back on Wednesday and I will be collecting something on Monday.

3. Tuesday next week, I'm going to see if the GP surgery in another town is taking new patients.  "Mine" has made far too many mistakes, and I'm done.

4. Also on Monday, I went to a fellow Mensan's house and played the first round of the backgammon tournament.  While agreeing the rules and play, I learned that my husband and I have been playing backwards for the last two years.  I mean, the layout, and amount of travel each tile has to move has been correct, so effectively we were playing right, but we played with everything reversed, so on Monday I had to wrap my head around playing anti-clickwise after playing clockwise for two years.  I lost, but I don't think it's because of that little handicap.  My opponent had all kinds of luck.  I'm not sure her alleged precision dice weren't really cheaty ones.  ;)

5.  My husband has four days off after he gets home tonight.  Unfoetunately, on Monday he's taking the campervan to our mechanic friend near Salisbury to have some work done and get an MOT.  Buuuuuuut that means I have the whole day with the car!  (Part of it will be spent collecting records from my GP, of course.)

8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!

It's been sh*t the last few weeks. 😶

1. Been at work all week this week. Previously I missed work due to a concussion and then bad side effects from a medication I started.

2. It's been cleaning all week cause my landlords are coming this weekend and we haven't been keeping everything spic and span cause of health stuff.

3. The new Dragon Prince season dropped today, so I'm going to watch!  Really looking forward to it.

4. My husband has a lumbar puncture today to verify if he has MS to go along with the Crohn's and Ankyolising Spondialitis.

5. I had an interview this week with Aldi home office, so we'll see.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Thanks. I'm a bit stressed today, but he told me I should go to work, so that's where I am. He's probably there now and it's just time to wait to hear from his dad or him about how everything is going.

All you can do is just try to carry on as normal as much as possible for his sake. Only a few more hours left in the day so hopefully they get back to you soon with an update and it's all good news.. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Oh Lyonaria, a concussion on top of all that? Ouch. Keeping your husband in my thoughts. I hope it's negative and he recovers from the procedure quickly.

It's Friday!

1. It looks like spring! It's sunny, warm, and my neighbors have flowers blooming.

2. My husband has a lot of time to use before April 1, so he has many long weekends planned over the next few weeks. He's off today so I made us a nice breakfast this morning.

3. Trying to keep anxiety in check and applying to many jobs. I don't know how it'll go, but I have to keep plodding away.

4. It's been a really itchy week. I follow up with the dermatology doctor today after they cancelled doing the patch test on Monday from the bad reaction.

5. Looking forward to dinner tonight. I got really dizzy right before I was meant to be cooking last night, so we pushed it to tonight. Nothing super special but it'll be tasty. :)
