Autumn and Early Winter Countdown thread
« on: July 29, 2007, 03:50:30 AM »
In the spirit of support and butterflies in the belly, this thread is for people with big dates in September-December '07.

I will start off:
29 or 30 September, Husband arrives from UK
4 October, we go on mini-holiday
7 October, we leave for UK
13 October, I meet the inlaws and extended family for the first time.  Oh yeah, plus I begin the living in UK thing (been to Europe, but never the UK)

62 days or
9 weekly paychecks or
4 bi-weekly paychecks or
2 full moon cycles (and some change)

I am excited, but kicking myself for not putting an earlier date on the Visa.  Oh, well.  I doubt we would be having this wonderful second honeymoon we are planning if it were earlier.

Hey, I'll join in, even though my countdowns aren't necessarily- LDR related, that ok?

30 September (or slightly before)- turn in dissertation and DONE with grad school!

22(ish) December- Head home to the States after 15 long months away, with FH in tow! Can't wait to visit and see my parents, little brother and cat ;D  I'll be there for at least a month, possibly until mid-February.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

Congrats. :)

Well, a couple of days down since I started this thread.  This is going to be hard.  :P  Any time I try to put it in perspective (oh, I was doing this sixty days ago.  That's all I have until Mr. C. comes), it seems to be even longer.

Well, we bought his tickets today.  He's def. going to be here on 29 September.  Under the 8 week mark and I am excited.  A lot nervous, and wondering how I am going to make it through these next weeks.

ETA: 55 days.  Sorry I am probably annoying about this, but we have been waiting for years.

I'm counting down, too but don't have an exact date since I won't buy my flight back to the UK until after I get my fiance visa--Dar I'm a little worried, too as we were using his Mom as a co-sponsor (financial and really more as a back-up just in case thing), but I have a feeling it will be fine.

So--all being said and done I *should* be back in the UK in early September and married on October 27th.  [smiley=love.gif]
Met husband-to-be in Ireland July 2006
Married October 2007
Became a British citizen 21 July 2011
Separated from husband August 2014
Off on an Irish adventure October 2014

Oct. 27th is a grand day to get married  ;) ;)

Not only for you, but also because it's the same for me--only 2 months and 1 week til the BIG DAY!

And moving to the UK in November, too! (good luck, Dar, maybe we'll inadvertently see each other in an airport! Do you have an idea of the route you'll be flying?)

I will be flying Boston to Heathrow.  On Virgin with my dogs.  I think DH will have to hire a van to get everything back to the house!  Two dogs and three bags!  Yikes!

We flew our dog Virgin Boston to Heathrow too!  Are you hiring a kennel or bringing one?  They made us purchase the very largest sized one they make for our golden.
Sorry, bit off topic....

The only thing I'm counting down for the moment is xmas....but I won't put a count down because that one would probably annoy everyone else!

Purchasing a kennel because I can't ship their crates over so the kennels will serve as crates for awhile.  Were you happy with Virgin?  I've heard really good things about how they deal with pets.

October 20 is my birthday and on that day I will be taking my DS to visit a pumpkin patch for the very first time.  It's not much, but I'm looking forward to it.  It should be fun.
