One thing I will miss for Thanksgiving is Hood Golden Egg Nog. No other Egg Nog suits the bill - It has to be the terribly bad for you and oh so thick and rich and creamy Hood Golden Egg Nog. Bliss.

Oh well, that will just have to wait until my trip home in December.

The restaurant we went to last Thanksgiving had only one booking for 3 left -- at 7:00 PM  :-[ :(  I took it but not very thrilled.

Bwahahahah! My mister bought me the last can of pumpkin puree at the St Katherine's Dock Waitrose last night. I told him he's just made countless American expats upset, but made one in particular very happy. :)

To all those who ordered a turkey from the butcher, can I ask what you paid for it?  I stopped by the butcher down the street last week and he said to come back in a week and he'd be able to give me a price per pound (we're celebrating the Sunday after Thanksgiving).  We have a small oven (which I measured) and are expecting 9 adults and 1.5 kids.  From the research I did we're aiming for a 12 to 14 lb turkey.  The butcher said it wouldn't be a problem but warned it might be kind of expensive.  We're popping back round Friday to speak with him about it but was wondering what sort of price to expect...

My farm fresh, free range turkey (that she's seriously slaughtering tomorrow night and plucking and giving to me on Friday) so I can cook this coming Saturday morning works out to be the exact same price as a frozen Bernard Matthews in Tesco.   :)

Now I just remembered my roasting pan doesn't fit in my oven  :-\\\\ so I need a new one  :-\\\\

Does anyone know where I can get french fried onions for my green bean casserole? Also, is there anything similar to pudding over here? And what is Jell-o called?

I reeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllllllly hope I can find another can of pumpkin. I saw them in Whole Foods in Camden last week so I must go back!

French fried onions - they're not Durkee (or whatever the brand is in the US), but if you look in the grocery store (you might need to try more than one!) around the salad dressings & condiments (that's where they are in Morrisons) - there is a product here in a plastic tub called something like 'crispy salad onions' or some such.  I remember the container being sort of opaque & the label has orange colouring on it.

Someone was suggesting on another thread (or was it this one?) - substituting either custard powder or Angel Delight for pudding mix, if that's what you mean.

Jello is just gelatin(e...sp?) here, isn't it?  Look in the pudding/desserts aisle.

Ocean Spray cranberry sauce (complete with can ridges!)

It's just not thanksgiving without the can ridges in the cranberry sauce!

We're doing ours on the 28th

Prestuffed turkey joint (arriving on Wednesday)
Salmon with cranberry orange marinade (for veggie MIL)
Mashed potatoes
Mashed sweet potatoes
glazed carrots
roast potatoes
stuffing
pumpkin pie
apple pie

Orange is pretty common so you shouldn't have any trouble finding that.

I have a can of the FF Onions that I won't be using as ChillyWilly is on Green Bean Patrol for our T-day.  If you PM me your address I'd be happy to post them to you.

Tally- our 14 lb. bird is going to cost between 40 and 50 GBP.  Expensive, but it's local and all that good stuff.
