A quick heads up for all you lovely lovers of Mexican/Calimex food!!  ;D

Britain's answer to Chipotle has recently opened in North London!!!!

Mucho Mas is a short walk from Angel Tube and it is SOOOO much like Chipotle you would NOT believe!!!

I went there late last week and had a grilled steak burrito and a taco sampler (i.e. shredded beef, shredded pork and grilled chicken). Everything was fresher than fresh and was authentically delicious. Moreover the prices are incredibly reasonable for London! Prices for their tacos, burritos and salads range from £4.95-£5.95. The guacamole, which is exceptionally good costs 75p extra per main course.

Y'all HAVE to check out this place, you will NOT be disappointed!!! I hope and pray that the Islington branch is the first of many.  :D

Here are some online reviews of Mucho Mas that I've managed to find:

londonelicious: a food blog.

An American in London (blog).

MegaMart (blog).

Dos Hermanos (blog).

ViewLondon.

Mucho Mas's Facebook Group,  which is a great source of news and info for the place (Facebook registration required).

P.S.If you get a chance to, have a chat with Eric. He's one of the co-owners of Mucho Mas and is lovely!  ;)

Thank you, will have to check it out :D

I've never eaten at Chipotle before, but it sounds like a trip to London is on the cards for me!  :)

Drat!  We stayed at the Hilton Islington last weekend and walked right past that place countless times, but figured it was just like most other "mexican" food here in the UK - crap. :P  Glad to hear we were wrong!

Right Meg... I'll stop and collect you and Carolyn on my way down south!  ;)

I told my British fiance about this place after reading this thread tonight, and he immediately said we HAD TO GO NOW. (He LOVES Chipotle, has the t-shirts and everything!) Even though it was 8pm, we live in South London, and the place closes at 9 on Sundays, we ran to the tube and made it there about 8:50pm after sprinting all over the immediate area around the tube trying to find it - the sign wasn't lit up and it was dark! I think the staff thought we were a bit mad as we turned up out of breath, sprinting inside, and with huge grins on our faces!

He had a steak burrito and I had a chicken burrito and they were SO good - a bit colder than Chipotle's, but I think that is because it was the end of the night. It tastes about about as similar to Chipotle as you can get - I think people who aren't as addicted as he is wouldn't notice much of a difference at all! Just be careful to state how much of each thing you want in your taco/burrito - the staff aren't as carefully trained in good proportions as they are at Chipotle. The assembly line production, tortilla warmers, etc are the same - its wonderful! We will be driving through North London tomorrow evening and he wants to go back to try the tacos - I think this will be his new fave restaurant in all of London.

Just go and try it. Seriously, this place is amazing. The hype is worth it.

I love that story. Sounds like something my husband would do. I can't wait to try this place, and am so glad that it's not very far from where I live.

Do they have the burrito bowls like they do at Chipotle?

I didn't see burrito bowls on the menu, sorry! Only tacos, burritos, and salad. Their facebook group says they are still tweaking their menu a bit so perhaps they will be added...?
