Cauldron are the best.  They also do tofu, mushroom burgers and other great stuff.  They are in most supermarkets and health food stores.

However, tesco and sainsbury have both just launched their own brand veggie sausages, which are surprisingly good.  You can find them in the frozen section, in bags!

My meat eating boyfriend loves them, so they can't be bad!
Thanks! I've tried Tesco's, and they're ok, but not great. I'll take a look at Sainbury's next time we're there. I miss Morningstar Farms... :(

My meat-eating husband actually prefers veggie sausages! ;D

So...  I was having a PB&J sandwich the other day and told my Brit about it, and he was absolutely revolted at the idea of peanut butter and "jelly" together ???... Now, he explained to me that Jelly was a different product over in Englnd, but it still surprised me that he had never heard of the combination before and thought it to be disgusting (I vowed to make him try it when he's over in December)....  so I was wondering..... is this just my boyfriend.....  or is it a cultural thing where brits have never heard and/or made a PB&J....  Can other Americans relate to me on this? :P

SOO...after i was shown this topic...by my girl(pyro) i figured enough was enough lol and signed up here.(given every now and again she sends me page links of this site to look at)

before i even new anything about yankees or pyro for that matter....when someone used to say to me(when i was a kid)....want a PB&J sandwich?....my face was a picture...i believe the words were ewww and then followed by expletives.however now i know what *there* version of jelly is(due to me being a lil smarter now and older) it makes "only" a little differance. so its jam....big whoop...but it still sounds nasty and no matter what pyro says to me trying it when i fly back...il have 1 bite an itl be in the bin....il stake my life on that one. 8)

to Tristessa...i agree with DH as you can see....though....how can you not like cheese and Branston pickle sandwiches? you get the amount of each right and its great....though too much pickle will have you reaching for the sick bags.... [smiley=help.gif]

PS to Elynor    nice to see theres a few yankees that dont understand the PB&J lol  ;D

Blasphemy!

Cheese and pickle is the staff of life. Get thee to a Branston jar!

I've eaten it my whole life, in the US as well. I don't think I could live without good pickle, though homemade is nicer than shop bought.

I'm American, and I like chunky Branston pickle and cheese.   ;)  But I also like American sweet relish and cheese.  Slightly different taste, but it's still pickle-y goodness.

BTW, when I was little I liked, pb/jelly and American cheese sandwiches.  I still crave them time to time.

And what about pb and banana sandwiches?  Can you say yummy in the tummy?  ;D

Grilled PB and Banana sandwich, done the Elvis way. (Like a grilled cheese). Also, peanut butter and maple syrup. YUM!

I was just doing a search to find out what bechamel sauce is (after reading the lasagna thread) and found a recipe for pb &j waffles. I'm not so sure how I'd like those. [smiley=bleck.gif]

Peanut butter & soft (cream) cheese on toast.

Peanut butter & port wine cheese spread on toast.

Comfort food.

This topic just came up in our house.  DD was at a sleep over and in the morning, there was a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jam.  She said "it was the strangest thing.  It was as though the two had never met!"  She immediately grossed everyone out and made a pb&j!

She's also introduced pb&chocolate to her friends but that is a whole other thread!!

We've taken to having brie and mango chutney sandwiches around here on occasion.  I've never tried Branston's pickle, but I don't like store-bought ploughman's sandwiches very much, and DH hates it, so I probably won't be trying it any time soon.

Did someone mention peanut butter and marmite?  I think I've just gone off my dinner!

I think any sort of nut butter+fruit based preserves works, really.  Almonds, cashews, peanuts; apricot jam, apple butter, strawberry jam, grape jelly, etc.  I can't understand why it seems so wierd to the Brits!

Everyone at work looks at me backwards when I eat PB&J.  I've noticed though, that SunPat just doesn't cut it.  I need to shell out the serious cash and have Skippy with Bonne Maman conserve  to get the authenitc taste.

I can't wait next time I go to Selfridges, going to get a jar of fluff and show them a fluffernutter sandwich
