Superbowl feast - help!
« on: January 17, 2008, 02:30:25 PM »
My boyfriend, American Football fan that he is, has never watched the Superbowl all the way through.  So, he has booked the relevant Monday off work, and we are going to pull an all-nighter.

I'm doing the cooking, so I want to get a selection of snacky type things I can bring out throughout the night.  They have to be clasically American, and they can't contain meat, and short of veggie hot dogs and several classic puddings (pecan pie, key lime pie, etc) I am stuck.

Any thoughts?

Vicky

Veggie burgers, nachos with melted cheese, jalepeno peppers and such.  There's a recipe a friend of mine used for a nacho dip, I'll see if I can find it.

Vicky, just be sure you don't forget the most important item...BEER!!!

http://vegetarian.about.com/od/vegetarianmexicanrecipes/r/quick7layerdip.htm

I remember my friend saying she made this once while stationed overseas and she couldn't find refried beans.  She substituted it with a veggie mince (probably Quorn or something similar) and said it still tasted great.

Bah, I'm hungry now...

I know it's Sunday 3rd February (We're doing the all-nighter too  ???).   It's on Sky (Sky 2 I think) but i've also seen it advertised on BBC1...but I might be wrong about that.

You can also get Old El Paso Refried Beans at Tesco, usually the bigger stores though.
