How do I do that?? Do you need a special phone?

(I very rarely use my mobile and know next to nothing about them)  :-\\\\
Most newer phones you can access the internet- however if you don't have a special internet package it can be very costly, so be careful!

Gotcha. Yeah, I think my phone will access the internet, but I don't have it set up to do that. I probably spend less about £5 a month (max) to use my phone. So I figured the password option would be better for me.

I think they mean they just use the internet browser on their phone instead of paying for texts. Is that right? For me, that would be more expensive (unless I'm on my Touch with wifi) and I get 250 free texts/month anyway...

Sending a Twitter update from a mobile is exactly the same as sending a text; you do not need to access the internet.
(that's what you're discussing, correct?)

That is indeed! Thank you! But I'm still left with the problem of setting up my mobile to be able to update, right? I still need to phone the magic number with the password, right?

To set up your phone, go here.  You put in your number, then I believe (it's been a while since I did it), they send a text to your phone to confirm, giving you the number with which you will text in your updates.
You don't need to 'phone' any password in.  It's a question of verifying the number matching your account.

No, I think that's for people who are already using a mobile to update Twitter.

To set up a phone to use it to update Twitter, you go to 'Setting' (top right). Then 'Devices' (top). Then, once you enter your phone number, it tells you to "Verify your number +17971xxxxxx by sending the following code to 40404:" Then it give me a random code.

But I have no signal here, so I can't send the code.

I should have tried it today while I was out, but I forgot.  :P

Oops, sorry!  I'd already forgotten how I did it, so that was no help!

So it sounds like you just need a signal to complete the process; no further finagling required :)
