There is cement in the bottom of washing machines and that's why they are so freaking heavy to move.

Who knew there was such a thing?

Yay!!!  Very glad to hear that!

Today I learned what I am going to be doing at work going forward for the foreseeable future (after waiting in limbo for the past several weeks).

That's good news!

According to Wiki there's also a "Pi Approximation Day" on July 22 because pi is roughly equivalent to 22/7.  Maybe the one is for Americans because they write the date as 3/14 and the second is for the British because they would write it 22/7?

that Saturday is not a good day to visit Borough market because you can't get to a lot of the stalls because of the crowds.

It really is a small world afterall!  Went to an Irish pub in Sheffield to find that the Landlady is cousins with the owner of an Irish pub in Cleveland - where I'm from!  Also, there was an American girl bartending!   ;D

Sevens,
Tell your doctor because he may have an alternative. I've done that in the past.

after looking at the Borders, Citizenship & Immigration Bill at the committe report stage, I also came across that a bill is before the house to abolish the TV license ;D

you get a 30 minute consultation if you want to quit smoking to discuss your options and  support. WOW! It makes it feel like more of a planned event. Let's hope I can stick with it this time once I set a date. Wish me luck!!!

Looks as though it's on its second reading today.  Here's hoping!   :)

It's a private member's bill by that Tory twat Chris "Chopper" Chope. He was one of the pioneers in the selling off of council housing stock and aggressively reducing council spending, which earned him his nickname. He sounds like just your sort of bloke, being chairman of the Eurosceptic Conservative Way Forward group and all. He wants firms to be able to opt out of the minimum wage.

Mind you, lest we be quick to judge...

Quote from: The Guardian
Christopher Chope said after the 2005 election: On his proudest achievement in parliament since 1997: "My most satisfying success was to force the government to give a British passport to Sujata Halder, a volunteer worker at the Christchurch Citizens Advice Bureau. The Home Office was adamant in its refusal until I secured an adjournment debate whereupon the minister changed his mind before the debate - doubtless to avoid ridicule."

I don't think his bill has a cat's chance in hell. [Update - it had its 2nd reading Fri 27th, and failed.]

All sounds good to me.  Pity the bill failed.
